New York has been planning this for a few years now since some of their best were retiring/moving on. (Cano etc.) They had the ability to scout out young top players to put together an up and coming #1 team where as the Mariners depended on "older" players for a quick fix. The M's philosophy is long term pain for MAYBE short term gain. Not the way to go and probably won't work anyway.

I don't think it was a plan, but an adjustment made by M's because they have ZERO ability to draft. But your point is dead on.

That got me interested so I looked up some stats on drafting from 2000 thru 2016 I believe. We are last if interested...lol

How the Teams Have Drafted in This Millennium | FanGraphs Baseball

i am cuz..the better you draft the better trades you can make.....and if a guy makes it up to(MLB)..he is better as well

We could DL him which would help save what is left of his arm and call up a spot starter like Miranda...oh ya.

So Z fucked up running the bases and fucked himself up doing it. That's so Mariner. :L

Don't take this the wrong way because, (in spite of the fact that Z isn't hitting worth a damn,) I really like Mike a lot- he's great with the pitching staff and awesome defensively----BUT-(tongue in cheek) he probably screwed up his ankle cuz he's not used to running the bases.....:pound:before anyone jumps on my shit, it's just a joke, OK?

Gotta have this one tonight. Don't let Trout kill us and way better D. I didn't realize Trout has 31 bombs on us, most against any other team. I can't wait till he leaves and heads back east.

Got lucky on that pitch to Trout-called 3rd strike but looked like outside ball. :thumb:

And Trout is our first out.

Now to keep the two on base from advancing...

Marco is definitely not on his game to start this one. Wonder how much that might have something to do with Z not calling for him??

Marco's pitch count is going to have him leaving early if he doesn't have more problems and get the hook earlier.

I'd worry more about the number of runners left on base each inning. Can't be too careful when in that kind of jam.

Heredia has the best arm of any outfielder that I have seen that doesn't throw runners out.

The thing I noticed on both of Heredia's doubles is that he was on balance for both them. No following over and landing over the plate. Maybe they made him slow it down.
