I'd be stunned if any team offer 2 1's for Garafello. Let's talk when that happens. Even one would be a huge surprise. Let's see how Garafello does Thursday but the idea of a legitimate backup for Brady is exciting.

No, that will never happen, nor is Grappolo worth 2 firsts. Besides the Patriots NEED an air apparent to Brady and so far it seems like it is Grap.

Mallett is in the last year of his rookie contract. They need a backup for next year, so Mallett would have them over a barrel if they traded Garoppolo. Garoppolo looks like a possible heir apparent to Brady at this point, and Mallett looks more like an heir apparent to...Ryan Fitzpatrick?

St. Louis will go with Shaun Hill, but they will still need a serviceable backup.

And who is the starter in Houston? Last I heard they had 3 or 4 backups and no starter. Might as well roll the dice on another one if you can get him cheap.

That's why we'll get a 4th rounder for Mallett. Because the teams who think they might want him won't want to take a chance on seeing him go somewhere else if he gets cut.

I could see Tom hanging on if the QB waiting in the wings was no more than a career backup but from what I'm hearing, Mallet is a strong QB ready to go. No, he's not Tom Brady but people talk like he's better than most out there.
