Series Thread: Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants (3 game Series)

Game 2 (Wednesday @ 7:15pm) Anderson v. Timmah!
Game 3 (Thursday @ 7:15pm) Kershaw v. Bumgarner

Pretty cool that we are only in May and Kershaw and Bum have dueled three times. The Giants are 11-5 over their last 16. Only hiccup was losing 2 outta 3 from the Marlins.

Even more remarkable, all three matchups have occurred within the last month. I wonder how many times in major league history two starters have squared off three times in thirty days. I can't imagine that many.

Thursday will be the 3rd time in the last month that Clayton Kershaw and Madison Bumgarner will face off.

In the previous two match ups, they've combined for:

27.1 Inn - 2.30 ERA - 0.92 WHIP - 1.17 K/9 - 8.0 K/BB

I'm thinking Thursday's contest might be a well-pitched one.

This entire slump at AT&T is pathetic. 30 straight scoreless innings (through the 5th inning today) at their park is a fucking joke - regression, pitchers park, bad luck - after awhile its too ay excuses before the number is so absurd its just inexcusable. Low point right now for the 2015 Dodgers.

33 consecutive scoreless innings in SF. Swept out of town and shutout all three games.

Seasons have low points, but this pretty low right now. 31 scoreless innings over the last 4 games.

For a bit of perspective, the 1906 Phillies and the 1968 Cubs went 48 consecutive innings without scoring a run. The most recent drought was the 2013 Miami Marlins with 37 consecutive scoreless innings. One more game of this and we are headed for the modern day history books.

How did these teams fair....
1906 Phillies 71-82; 4th in NL
1968 Cubs 84-78; third place in NL East
2013 Miami Marlins 62-100; DFL

Perhaps the dead ball era and the "high pitching mound" can explain the Phillies and Cubs. Marlins just sucked.
