Lane Johnson's suspension likely to begin after Pitt game

He has officially been suspended now, according to reports, but has an appeal hearing next week. That means he should be able to play at least one more game before he is suspended. And of course there is a chance his suspension is reduced though I would not hold my breath.

I worry that the line won't be as good with Barbre at RT but what can you do. Hopefully someone steps in at LG and does OK, either Wis or Seumalo.

Regardless how you slice it, it's not good for us - his suspension immediately weakens us at two positions, and it's not like the line has been that great so far to start the year even with Lane in there.

I believe the appeal hearing is actually on Oct 4. so it's after bye week in the Lions game week.

In the meantime, the Eagles are expected to start rookie Halapoulivaati Vaitai at right tackle in place of Johnson.

Yeah, they have apparently decided to have Big V start to avoid disrupting two positions, which would have been the outcome if they moved Barbre from LG to RT.

I would...move Barbre. They have 10 games! They need to get this right and we have better prospects to replace Barbre at LG IMO.

I read that article and it sounds like Pederson hasn't committed to Vaitai starting at RT, only that Big V is "in the mix." He'd prefer to disrupt only one position on the offensive line, not two. So I guess he's going to give it a shot this week and see how it plays out.

While I can understand the beef that Lane would have with the NFLPA app it still is his fault. If the NFL App does not not have league office approval for authenticity a player needs to do their due dilligence. A player should never put a supplement in their mouths unless it comes from a team doctor or he has approval from the NFL. To do otherwise is just stupid.

I'm mixed. I'm not sure the options at LG are all that great. But I don't think Big V is ready.

Well we didn't know if Wentz was ready based on preseason and it turned out he was, so maybe Big V has flashed in practice or something. But it concerns me, no doubt. We have a big game against Washington this weekend and then a very tough test against the Vikings, who will be coming off a bye week. Not good.

It isn' ta good position to be in. I am sure the outcome was expected and there has always been a plan in place. If they are just trying to figure it out now I am going to lose a little respect for the coaching staff.

Apparently V has made a big jump in the practices since preseason ended, so that's why he's getting consideration.
