Dare we hope?

I remain skeptical, but maybe a switch that leans more towards a 3-4 will help him? His build seems to be more suited for a 3-4 DE than a 4-3.

I expect to see all sorts of write ups about how impressive he has been this offseason. Right up until he gets cut.

Yeah. Got to make your goods look like a million $$ even if your thinking about giving them to Goodwill

I'm not holding out much hope, but maybe he can be effective as a 3-4 style DE.

Sure you will see articles pumping up plenty of players but a few hopefully come to fruition.

I was fully expecting this guy to get released I was caught off guard by how many healthy scratches he had last season. I would say this is probably the worst draft pick that JS and PC ever had.

Malik McDowell.

But, yeah, L.J. hasn't been good.

LJ shows flashes, very rarely and I do mean VERY RARELY, but he did show them. I think he is one of these guys that "got his money" ( First round pick ) and that's it he has mailed it in. He looks uninterested on the field, I don't even think he wants to play football.

I can see that. I wouldnt be surprised when he got to the league after maybe the 1st season that the level of dedication, skill, politic and work ethic to be great or even good as a DL was not something he probably was prepared for.

I think thats why they have kept him on the team, thinking they could get his mind right and back into football. Problem is he got that first round draft pay scale making him millions and I feel he was in it for the money only.

I hope he has a great year and signs a huge off season contract. That gets us a good comp pick at the least.

LJ Collier, Malik McDowell... Seattle has been trying so hard to replace Michael Bennett. Shelby Harris is probably that guy but we just could never find a Bennett replacement in the draft.

He's better suited to play 3-4 DE, but I still can't really imagine him becoming anything useful.

I wasn't a fan of the pick, haven't been a fan of how he has played, and don't have much hope for him. If he makes the roster I can see him getting regular snaps, but only as a result of the Seahawks liking to rotate guys in and out.

My thoughts about Michael Bennett as a person aside, he was probably the most underrated player of our LOB days. You don't very often come across defensive linemen like him and you're right that they've been trying to search for his replacement which I think is misguided. He was able to rush the passer at DE, DT and was great at stopping the run at both spots. Not many defensive linemen in the NFL who can do that.

Yah, he was bit of a rare hybrid player. I agree 100% he was underrated.
