Joe Burrow clearly has exceptional pro skills to compete in the NFL.

But, it looked to me like he was getting tremendous hits back there behind a subpar OL.

They need to do a hell of a lot more to protect him or he will not last the entire season.

I'm afraid he might get so shell shocked and beat up that he may not last long in the NFL.

Am I the only one thinking this?

it's not just that they need better offensive linemen to protect him, they need better protetion schemes to begin with, in order to make sure that he's given the best possible chance to not absorb big hits on a regular basis. bengals need to take a hard look at their offensive line coach and consider moving in a new direction, because it's NOT just the personnel that's a problem.

He took some unnecessary sacks in that game. Rookies in the NFL gotta learn they have less Superman in 'em than in NCAA

He's getting the crap beat out of him right now. It should get better but if it doesn't he won't have a long career

As @Ojb81 said, scheme would help. Their passing offense revolves around the intermediate window, so Burrow spend too much time waiting for plays to develop.

They just gave Mixon a boatload and they don’t seem to be getting him involved a whole lot. Or at least they abandon him too early.

I don't think he gets Carr'd at all. They actually have a good looking LT even if the rest of the OL looks like hot garbage. I think an interior OL can be rebuilt.

They'd better do it quick.

Burrow also needs to learn how to slide, get rid of the ball, go out of bounds, etc., like Russell Wilson.

I'm on record saying I don't believe Burrow will be anything great. 2 games in, I've yet to see any evidence to the contrary. Though it's still very early.

I think he looked fairly good for two games into a career while getting his teeth kicked in. The Bengals did him no favours by dropping him back 60+ times.

They need more RB screens, WR screens and shovel tosses or handoffs to motion receivers. Coaches need to use the playbook to keep opposing defensive players from just playing the run on the way to the QB. Need to make them pause and think more to create an extra second for Burrow in the pocket.

what about drew lock?

Well according to some Broncos fans I know that have their homer hats on too tight Lock will be a damn good NFL qb (some figured that out after only 2 starts). The funny thing is I've also heard the same thing about Brandon Allen, Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian and Brock Osweiler. And when Elway signed Flacco he said he was just entering his prime.

dont forget, he compared him to mahomes, and had him as a top 8 i think qb for this year.

Burrow has looked the #1 pick overall part through 2 weeks. He has some things to learn like all incoming guys.

Troy Aikman absolutely got creamed on a weekly basis his rookie year and he came out alright. Cream rises to the top and IMO, Burrow will be more Troy Aikman than David Carr

Been a long season and with one week left, I thought I'd throw out my personal, subjective view of how NFL QBs stack up with the year wrapping up.

1. Jackson - BAL
2. Brees - NO
3. Wilson - SEA
4. Mahommes - KC
5. Rodgers - GB
6. Brady - NE
7. Watson - HOU
8. Jimmy G - SF
9. Tannehill - TEN
10. Ryan - ATL
11. Allen - BUF
12. Prescott - DAL
13. Wentz - PHI
14. Cousins - MIN
15. Brissett - IND
16. Rivers - LAC
17. Goff - STLA
18. Stafford - DET
19. Lock - DEN
20. Carr - Oakvegas
21. Rudolph/Hodges/Roethlisberger - PIT
22. Mayfield - CLE
23. Murray - AZ
24. Trubisky - CHI
25. Jones - NYG
26. Winston - TB
27. Haskins/Keenum - WAS
28. Dalton - CIN
29. Newton/Allen/Greir - CAR
30. Minshew/Foles - JAX
31. Fitzpatrick - MIA
32. Darnold - NYJ

I'm guessing we'll see new QBs in Pittsburgh, Cincy, Carolina, and Miami next year. Others that should look for another QB are LAC, Indy, Detroit, and Jacksonville. Will have to see if Tampa and Tennessee are comfortable rolling with their current starters. Winston's leash seems unusally long for all the mistakes he makes, and Tannehill is a guy that always looks good but has yet to lead a team anywhere of importance. Vegas might begin a search for a new franchise guy, but I could see them sticking with Carr another year or two. I think the biggest question mark will be Chicago. Will the Bears stick with the young guy, even though he's regressed a bit?

And there are some good, young arms ready to lead the next generation of the NFL. Jackson, Mahommes, Watson, Lock, Dan Jones, and Murray all look like they could put up some nice numbers over the next few years. And the next couple drafts have some guys that look like they have a ton of talent. Even if just a couple of those guys translate to the NFL really well, the future of the position looks really bright.

How I would rank them:

1. Lamar Jackson
2. Baker Mayfield
3. Kyler Murray
4. Drew Lock
5. Josh Allen
6. Gardner Minshew
7. Daniel Jones
8. Tua Tagovailoa
9. Sam Darnold
10. Dwayne Haskins
11. Jarrett Stidham
12. Joe Burrow
13. Justin Herbert
14. Jordan Love
15. Mason Rudolph
16. Josh Rosen
17. Ryan Finley
You also contradict yourself........since in decembe.allen was #11 overall, lock was #19, murray was #23, and mayfield #22.......

Now in may allen is 5th, of this group, and murray and mayfield leapfrog lock ............
