With everyone talking about the Mookie/Price trade last night, I didn't see much of this mentioned. Angels just potentially created the best first four lineup in the majors.

Trout
Ohtani
Pederson
Rendon

Pujols and Upton are old and I wouldn't expect consistency out of them, but they still bring a little pop. Not sure how well their pitching will hold up, but the offense could be a lot of fun to watch

Not too mention, Andy Pages is heading to the Angels. A prospect with a lot of power potential.

Wow, Pages had some good power numbers in the rookie league. Is he really 18 years old or is that a "Dominican 18" ? I like Pederson too. More of a platoon guy but a very good one. Plus he's on the good side of the platoon so he still got 500 plate appearances last season.

Rengifo looks like he could end up being good in the next couple years, although I don't see a spot for him to be a starter on the Dodgers.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Ross Stripling is being traded to the Angels along with Joc Pederson.
Luis Rengifo will go to the Dodgers along with two prospects, according to Nightengale's sources. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel reported Tuesday that the Angels would be getting outfield prospect Andy Pages, but it's unclear if that is still an element of this deal. Nightenagle says there are "still a lot of moving parts." Stripling, 30, posted a 3.47 ERA, 1.147 WHIP, and 93/20 K/BB ratio over 90 2/3 innings (15 starts, 17 relief appearances) last year in Dodger Blue. He would presumably operate out of the rotation in Anaheim.

Looks like a nice trade for the Angels. Joc is a good player albeit not an everyday player (and they can move him into RF), plus Stripling provides much needed pitching depth. They also get an intriguing raw prospect in Pages.

Rengifo looks like he could be a nice utility guy.

it'll be interesting to see how Pages' power numbers look after playing in Ogden. It's a pretty hitter friendly park.

Ok all I am reading so far is the Angels are getting:

Joc Peterson
Ross Stripling
Andy Pages

Dodgers:
Luis Rengifo

Obviously missing something on the return for the Dodgers?

I think there's supposed to be another prospect headed to the Dodgers.

EDIT: two, apparently.

Rengifo probably becomes a utility infielder to allow rest days at 2B/SS/3B. He'll still get a solid amount of ABs if that's the case.

I thought they had a pretty potent offense before acquiring Pederson. Surprised they didn't try for a position of need...............LIKE PITCHING.

Their outfield will probably be Upton-Trout-Pederson, at least against righties. They can platoon Pederson with Goodwin.

edit: of course, it does get murkier if/when they call Adell up.

I guess they added depth here. But it seems to muddy the waters more than anything to me. Goodwin was solid, to me, while Upton was hurt.

A lefthanded power hitter won't help prevent the other team from scoring.

They did get Stripling out of it too, who provides them a nice swingman that's pitched capably as a starter. They still need pitchers that can handle a full season though. Ohtani and Heaney have some upside.

Jesus, are the Angels trying to set the record for payroll without a playoff berth?

Pederson should be a very good pickup for the Angels. Could be a team to watch this year.

Are the Mariners trying to set the record for most seasons without a playoff birth?

Sure, but they broke the record for $100 million salary with 100 loses but the Angels are going to shatter that record. The Angels are the Redskins of baseball.

I’m not quite on this move for the Dodgers. Trading a guy who hit 36 homers last year. Not much in return. Does this have anything with that arbitration stuff?

Don't sleep on the Angels this season.
