It’s not looking any better with Kennedy warming up.
Can Kennedy go with him@Duane1952 will you plz buy Leclerc a ticket on the next bus leaving town?
YepCan Kennedy go with him
Yeah I trust Ragan better than LeClerc or Kennedy or Sborz. Should have never let him start another inningWhy, given how awful the bullpen has been, didn't Bochy just put in a guy like Ragans to try to get a long save up 7-6?
We've just handed them the game with these three terrible relievers...
Has Ragans been used as a long man more than once or twice all year? It seems that reason for putting him in the pen was just an excuse made to cover up for the lack of additions to the pen in the offseason. Why, given how awful the bullpen has been, didn't Bochy just put in a guy like Ragans to try to get a long save up 7-6?

Don't know offhand how many opportunities he's had in long relief, but it sure might have saved us from blowing the lead. Or at least not falling behind by 4.Has Ragans been used as a long man more than once or twice all year? From Levi Weaver:
Speaking of home runs, that’s been one of Heaney’s issues. His 1.73 home runs per nine innings last season was pretty much in line with his career mark of 1.6. That’s not a huge red flag, but it isn’t particularly great. In fact, among pitchers with at least 70 innings thrown last season, Heaney gave up the eighth-worst HR/9 mark. For comparison, here are the 2022 HR/9 numbers for the other four projected members of the rotation:
Jacob deGrom: 1.3
Jon Gray: 1.2
Jake Odorizzi: 1.2
Martín Pérez: 0.5
This is what I was concerned about when we signed Heaney. He actually has a worse ERA now than the one he had over his last 8 starts last year. His last 8 starts occurred between August 13 and September 23. He pitched 36.2 innings and gave up 20 ER for an ERA of 4.91.
His warts are beginning to show and I hope whoever fills in for deGrom performs so well that they take Heaney's job once deGrom comes back. This is what I was concerned about when we signed Heaney. He actually has a worse ERA now than the one he had over his last 8 starts last year.
Spot on, bro. I wasn't a fan of the signing, either and the money they gave him could have brought back a couple of nice relievers, Moore and Chafin, as you've brought up before.Dunning or Ragans should have been starting in Heaney's spot all year and Heaney should have signed with another team. We should have went out and signed a long man or traded for one instead of signing Heaney.
There is no room for Sborz and Leclerc if we are chasing a division championship.Ok with Sborz going in after falling behind and kind of rolled the dice due to seeing only one batter his first inning but bringing him out again seemed ill advised with a lead.
There were other option like Ragans or even Dunning. He should have off day pitching as well. Not sure who was unavailable but this seemed like a test game for Bochy even pinch hitting Bubba starting Leody.
He has to be assessing long term and can’t like what he sees with the pen.
Ian can’t be trusted to keep a lead but the book is still out on Ragans and to me he is being wasted.
Re Heaney. Have to say our need is in the pen and some adjustments need to be made.
Wonder if he can be a closer. Have asked this before and might be bad politics and not a show of faith per expectations when signed
There needs to be some shakeup in the pen.
