Jason Kidd granted permission to speak with Bucks after being denied promotion by Nets

Jason Kidd's future as coach of the Brooklyn Nets is uncertain after an attempt to gain more power within the organization led to the team granting him permission to interview with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to sources close to the process.

Sources have confirmed a New York Post report that Kidd, after a successful debut season upon making the difficult jump from player to coach, recently approached ownership with a request to have personnel control in addition to his coaching duties. Nets ownership, however, rebuffed Kidd.

The Bucks then asked for and were granted permission to speak with Kidd about hiring him away from Brooklyn, sources said.

Sources close to the situation said the Bucks and Nets already have begun discussing possible compensation to release Kidd from the final three years of his original four-year, $10.5 million contract.

"I don't think Kidd will be back," a source close to the process said Saturday night.

Kidd did take a motley crew of geriatric veterans to the second round of the playoffs. He already has proven to be a decent head coach.

That team was expected to do better than that.

And it's going to get worse because that team as constructed probably isn't coming back. So he's getting out at a good time, Brooklyn is only going to get worse from here on out.

He's mad about that, and the fact that he'd get the blame when they lose next year, as well as not getting paid what these other coaches are getting.

I think the Nets are making a great move right here. He had alot of trouble off and on the court this year. THe Bucks are really desperate for a new head coach and a big name like Kidd is just what they need. THey havent had a big name like this since the Ray Allen days

Actually the Bucks interest in Kidd seems more rumor than fact according to both owners.

Word was that the nets were prepared to fire kidd two days ago and pay the balance of his salary, cant believe it took that second pick. Whole lot of saving face in two cities to let this go much farther.

Yes, but they have an overrated douche of a coach now. Kidd certainly could turn out to be an amazing coach down the line. But the shit he's pulling right now, you'd swear he had a resume similar to Phil Jackson's.
