...what would it be?

I'd go with #24 for both Dwight Evans and Manny Ramirez. Dewey played 19 seasons with the Red Sox and is easily one of the greatest players in franchise history (5th all-time in WAR behind Ted, Yaz, Boggs, and Clemens). And while Manny wasn't in Boston nearly as long, he still provided the Sox with 7.5 seasons of elite hitting and played a major role in two World Series titles. I don't think there's a player more deserving between the two, I think both are very deserving. And it's not easy to go with a number other than #21 (Roger Clemens) or #15 (Dustin Pedroia)

Only 1 in team history? If that's the case...for the Dodgers it has to be 42.

As a Giants fan, #22 was that number for much of my life. But that will be happening next year (was supposed to happen last year, but for some unknown reason they decided to put it off).

As it stands now, all the desired retirements are too recent to complain about.

Not many left to choose from, but I'd pick the number that's already been de facto retired-#21

I have never understood how Jim Rice is in the HOF and he's not.

TEH FEAR

Rice's OPS+ was only one point higher (128 to 127) despite him having about 1500 fewer plate appearances. And despite the PA difference, Rice still hit into 88 more double plays (in fact, Rice' rDP is a whopping -42). Dewey's also got a reputation as a very good defensive right fielder and has 19.4 WAR on Rice. It's a joke.

Easily one of the best arms I've ever seen in RF.......

I actually thought he was in the Hall of fame. I guess that's why they haven't retired his number. Or maybe it was that one year he played for the Orioles when he was 40 years old......
