Just noticed Gray's WHIP is 1.21... That will be problematic down the line if he can't lower it. He definitely needs to work on his command and bring down his BB numbers. Hopefully we see that change tonight and he doesn't throw up and ugly one.

In other news, I'd be willing to bet Jim Johnson reclaims the closer role if he pitches the rest of this week and all of next week like he has during his last 3 outings.

Nope, I think we have a superb catcher who is wise well beyond his years.

Norris went to Johnson before his 2 inning, 4 strikeout outing against the Mariners and basically told him (paraphrased) "Look, the hitters know exactly what you are going to throw because you throw about 95% sinkers. They sit on it and they are crushing it. You need to focus a lot more on your secondary pitches for a while until they stop doing that."

So that is exactly what has been happening during Johnson's last three outings. Notice Norris has caught them all.
