need 4th line grit? sure here's Lapierre.
grit, wheels, and energy.
AV coached him in junior, used him in a key shut-down role (often against Crosby)
They need to reel him his 'after the whistle' antics, but have a pretty good record at that.
If players like Kesler and burrows have bought in, Maxime doesn't really have a lot of wiggle room.

How about some depth? why not, how about Chris Higgins?
former 25 goal scorer, coming back into form with FLA this year
has played all scenarios with Panthers this season, cn play 4th to 2nd line if needed.
and he's got wheels to spare as well.

good luck Oberg. Basically Tanev took his spot on the depth chart (maybe Sweatt, too).
Joel Perreault was just awful.

yep its what I wanted to see. I like our bottom 6 alot. still not as strong as the Hawks last year but this is a very good top 12. Getting Edler back for the playoffs will be like a late season trade. Im liking this. and we dont lose a roster player.

Acquilini is probably happy he's not paying an ahl'er 500k anymore either

I like Lapierre ... Higgins ... meh? I laughed when the Flames acquired him last year so I cant be dancing on the ceiling Lionel Ritchie style now that we got him

maybe we can get a (completely unbiased of course) scouting report from dash

I didn't realize Oberg was on the books for $1.56 mill until your main page post. yikes.
never noticed it before, as his AHL salary was reasonable.
these college UFA's are just cleaning up... like the Rags paying Gilroy $1.4 this year and $2.1 next, on a one-way deal. not bad for an untested rookie.

oh yeah, Hodgson and Oreskovich back down to the Meeses.

yah when you compare the Oberg contract to the Tanev contract which was signed to pull out of RIT after only 1 year > Tanevs deal is lower and there are 0 bonus dollars on it ... add to that the fact that Tanev looks head and shoulders like a better prospect ... moving Oberg was a no brainer

/just wish they could have pulled more that Higgins ... but Ill give him a shot to settle in on a 3rd or 4th line

Im just happy AV can actually throw 4 lines out without fear and Im positive he will trust all forwards that dress

Love the signings IF lapierre is kept in check especially playoff time , cant afford dumb penalties during the playoffs from a 4th liner . Does he pk as well ??

Higgins when healthy will be a solid 3rd liner and if Raymond is playing like this , Higgins will soon move to the 2nd line , so a very nice depth move .

are these guys FA years end ?

Lapierre has already said if they want him to shut up, he'll gladly shut up.
Don't think he kills penalties, but I'm not sure. Higgins did for FLA though.

Higgins is a UFA, Lapierre is an RFA ($900k this year, so probably $990k to qualify?)

I know you guys are like me and were all wondering ... where is our favorite canucks fan Shawn Rockhead and what does he think about the deals?

for those that dont know he is a world traveller ... he used to email the team1040 as "Jack from the Carribean". Now he has moved on to greener pastures and goes by the pseudonym "Jack from Detroit"

He thinks that Higgins will watch the playoffs from the pressbox ... He also likened Gillis to Nonis blah blah blah

The Manitoba Moose have loaned MacGregor Sharp to the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenceman Keith Seabrook.
