Niemi played awesome. Joe Thornton played awesome. Marleau came alive at the start of the 3rd. Little Joe had a rough, rough game, but he came through in the clutch. Murray had a great game. Cooch.....I just can't say enough about the kid.
Great win a lot of guys showed a lot of heart. Ugh, I hate to be the pessimist after a good win, but Heatly is fucking garbage. He almost single handedly lost this game tonite. He just does so many things so bad. Why did we get this guy? Hes nothing like the player I would have ever imagined. No way we can trade him, but I would take a bag of shit for him. I really enjoyed watching Wellwood. Not a bad pickup, has talent for a third liner. Yes, Im going to say it, Wallin was not all that bad tonite and I thought Vlasic was pretty darn good too.
heater is surely mercurial. One day he looks like a stud and he basically won the STL game for the sharks. Then he stinks it up the next day. It's alot like patty. Both have great skill and both can take over a game with their raw talents, but both go so off and on.
Still though, as terrible a game as heater had, he could easily turn around and pot a trick just like that. he was hired for the PO's, so it will be there (assuming we get there) that he will be ultimately judged.
That little trick Heatley tried, trying to stickhandle around 3 guys near the opposition blueline and turning it over for the lone VAN goal better not be done again. That was one of the stupidest, most irresponsible plays I've seen. The whole game it seemed the Sharks just wanted to get pucks deep and he tries some crap like that. Todd should have benched his ass for at least a period right then and there even if it hadn't led to a goal. You know the Sedins are on the ice, you just keep it simple.
I do like that Heater and Thornton are split up. When they are together, it seems they are entrenched into their supposed roles and look to do what people expect them to do. Thornton pass, Heatley shoot. Without Thornton, Heatley will look to set up his linemates but that stickhandling display was not the way to do it.
