Im pretty sure when hammond was here he is the one that made the impressive moves. Dumars should have been canned a long time ago, but the pistons do have a solod nucleus of young talent. His mistake was to continue to think stuckey was the solution at PG.
Tbh I was one of the people who wanted him canned in 08 after the RIP resigning along with the Iverson trade and eventually signing Gordon and Charlie V..
You have a good team but what you need is a legit pg. The 03-04 Suns had the same problem with Marburry he was able to avg 8 assists because his roster was so talented around him yet he was a chucker than we got Nash a legit pass first pg and he made everything work. You cant have 2 chuckers in Josh Smith and Jennings on the same team you need to trade for Rondo or a legit pass first pg like a Rubio or something.
I dont get how this man still has a job? I love and respect the guy completely as a player. I will always look back fondly at his patented steal from the opponent after just hitting a three and then hitting another! Often I wonder how franchises so often give former players the general manager position which should actually require some serious education combined with the ability to evaluate talent. Joe has not been able to financially handle the team, get along with any of his coaches or evaluate talent, period. Agree with smitty when he says the downfall has been the faith in stuckey. I never liked the guy as he was the apparent heir to chauncey and broke his hand promptly. Trading chauncey and relying on stuckey was exactly when joe should have been canned. He (hammond?)made a great move in signing chauncey in the first place recognizing the talented potential point guard mr big shot was. No one thought stuckey was a legitimae pg except dumars. The signings of charlie v and ben gordon were ridiculous!
