Could it be that Posey's shoes are too big for Bart to fill? How do you replace a Hall of Famer? Hopefully with another HOFer. But maybe that is too intimidating for Bart. Or maybe he just isn't all that skilled in the way the Giants are looking for. Or maybe they be jimmyjacking him. Work on framing! Work on taking pitches! Work on throws to 2nd!

Maybe the best we can do is a couple of pretty good defensive catchers who hit a little bit, and hopefully develop someone who can do both.

This just publicly looks bad.

And they are considering giving FZ an extension? Why?
Patrick Bailey on line 1....

Anyone seen how Kyle Harrison's season is going so far?

In 3 starts, he's pitched a total of 6 innings. He's thrown 62 (2 IP), 35 (0.2 IP) and 57 (3.1 IP) pitches in those starts. His 2nd start was disastrous but even in the ones he allowed only 1 run, his walks are a bit elevated. Still, why the heck are they using him as an opener every 5 days? Are they that concerned about wear and tear on his arm?

Through April 21st, Sanchez has gone 6 for 41 with one extra base hit (a double) and 9 walks (versus 13 strikeouts) in 11 games. We've got another week before his opt out comes up but I have to wonder if he will waive it (or, if possible, push it back). Or, do the Giants panic, and bring him up anyway?

Wade Meckler was an eighth-round pick out of Oregon State in the 2022 MLB Draft, so he didn’t enter organized baseball as a top prospect. But he’s already with High-A Eugene, and he’s almost certainly heading to Double-A Richmond soon. Since getting promoted from Rookie ball to Low-A San Jose last season, here’s what he’s done against A-ball competition over the last two seasons.

The Rivercats have NINE pitchers with BB/9 over 8.5.

NINE.

What a shitshow.
I know that the league formerly known as the PCL is not kind to pitchers but the RiverCats' pitching stank goes beyond that. I don't know if it speaks more to the collection of arms that comes through FZ's frantic churning or the coaching staff that they assemble in AAA. Either way, it is concerning the production (or lack thereof) that comes from that team's pitching staff.

This year's Vaun Brown?

Speaking of Brown, I was disappointed that he's started the year on the IL. I have no idea what his injury is, so I don't know how long he will be out.

He is currently on the IL with Richmond, where they only have 2 true outfielders on the active roster. They certainly have room for Meckler.

I should also disclaim...very short sample size
