or is it just me? after 5 minutes of ball, he bears the appearance of a 40 something year old who just spent all night drinking and woke up at 2pm. he needs one of those kids in tennis who hide behind them, waiting to flip them the towel every 30 seconds.

He's looked like that every game over the last three seasons. People only started noticing more when he started to breakdown.

Might as well start calling him Adam, as this dude is Dunn!

Last time I saw Halladay play he was sweating profusely in lower temps than would be expected. Again, as I have posted elsewhere, this dude has all the symptoms of untreated heat exhaustion he got last year in Chicago and it has gone untreated. I also think it contributed to accelerating the injury to his shoulder and if he is still looking like the above post description, it is worse than I thought. I agree. The dude is cooked-literally!!

He has not played in a number of weeks and he has definitely not exercised so he is going to look all pale and emaciated probably because he did not do much physical maintenance during rehab. Too bad. The dude is pretty much toastola!!

I really like your opinions, Retro, but I disagree with this one. Halladay is one of the hardest working players in all of baseball. I can't imagine him sitting on his ass, and not caring about getting back to playing. I think he wanted to be back more than anyone else on the 2013 Phils that was out with injuries, with the exception being maybe Chase. I remember in Spring Training 2010 the reporters were all amazed at how Doc was at Bright House Stadium by 5 A.M. everyday, warming up and then working out. Roy is one of the few players these days who really looks like he is here with the sole goal to win a World Championship, and will do mostly everything in his power to help his team accomplish the goal (I said mostly because I don't believe he took/takes PEDs or sold his soul to the devil in exchange for a championship ring). It's a damn shame it looks like he won't get what he came here for.

Well thanks Number 1. But what I was attempting to convey is that the surgery may have been extensive (I believe it was) and with that type of injury, his normal balls-to-the-wall approach was (without seeing the medical prognosis) probably curtailed to a certain degree by the surgical team to protect his repair during rehab.

Thus his rehabilitation was, in all likelihood, medically supervised and when that occurs, there chances are good Halladay was limited to a certain degree. I also believe he is suffering from untreated heat exhaustion which can be exacerbated during a mild lay-off, post-surgery. And that may be the reason for his emaciated appearance. Just speaking from experience here as I used to work in that area.
