Well, the likely replacement for Giroux is Zach Rinaldo, so it's a guaranteed power play for your team, at least. Rinaldo takes a decent number of minors, and gets called for even more.

I'm with Cup on this one. I'd rather he didn't get suspended. He's been such a headcase in this series and seems flustered. This could very well be a wakeup call to the Flyers, similar to when Kovy was out for us in game 2 and we played our best game of the series.

Yeah I am worried about this suspension too... They will not only be playing in their building, but now out of complete desparation and I think they will come out on fire... lets hope we can weather the storm and win this one. I want to end this tom night and not see them again till next year. Plus it allows Kovy to rest some more... why reinjure whatever he has.... Lets hope that our play of late is just too much for them to handle, no matter how pumped up they are...

Way i look at this too the series they lost to the flyers and the Sens they got booted in 5 and looked broken. The flyers do look the same way

Folks, I think we're over analyzing this one. Giroux being out will be a factor one way or another. This absolutely hurts the Flyers. Devils just need to continue to play the exact same way. Parise will make sure they do.

Agreed MC that Giroux out will hurt the Flyers and that the Devils just need to continue to their game plan on playing the Flyers the way they have done all series.

The NHL had to do something with this if they want to really try to get the head shots out of the game. As Mckenzie put it this is a classical violation of rule 48, a target head shot. Giroux was angry and frustrated and took it out on Zubes. When the ref missed the call with Marty for playing the puck in the trapiziod, the already frustrated Giroux was chirping at the ref before skating back and hitting Zubes. This put him over the edge and being angry and frustrated, he wanted to get back at the Devils. Yes emotion got into it here but he clearly didn't hit the body and but rather came across just in front of Zubes and brought up his shoulder to Zubes head, who was a little bent over at the time. He might of missed timed the check but there was no need to bring up the shoulder to make contact to the head.
Regardless on if Giroux is a repeat offender or first time offense, a suspension had to be given.

Devils are obviously saying the right things to the media. Giroux is a dangerous player, but Philly could rally, we still need to be worried about Philly. blah, blah, blah. Politically correct. Point is, Devils have the biggest advantage of any game in this series so far with Giroux out, BUT, any team can beat any team on a given night, so the Devils need to focus on what they're doing right, because that's what got them here.

Devils have to close them out. dont want to face a semi must win Thursday with all the pressure on us. We look invincible to them right now a loss tonight might change that. they seem broken so no need to give them a chance.

Would be interested to see though what type of team comes out will say about them going forward. If they take the game off thinking they won and believing the hype around them and lose or will they come out hungry and banging and not letting up to get the w.

Aside from wanting to move on, I want them to wrap it up tonight so that we can get that extra day or 2 of rest. Hopefully the Rags series goes 7. I just don't see the team coming out flat against the Rangers if we face them. There is enough hatred and intensity in the rivalry to get them going.
