The silence from the team on Ryans is somewhat interesting. You gotta figure he is gone with Alonso coming in? Or is he? Could Alonso be an OLB?

I suspect they are talking to him about injury settlement or retirement and joining the coaching staff?

What makes you think all that? They can flat out cut him if they want. Trade can't go threw till next week so they can't really say much

He is a 30 something year old coming off another knee injury with a $6.9M salary. He is not being traded, and I don't expect him to be back with the team, so its just a little surprising that his cut has not been announced.

That is why I am thinking possible retirement. The injury may be a factor as well as there may need to be a settlement of some sort. They want to treat him with class and may want him on the coaching staff. Ryans is probably thinking through his options.

If he was clear he could and wanted to play this year, then I think his release would have already happened.

He is going to be cut, but surely they will wait until this deal is formalized next week. No mystery here.

Some reporters think they will keep Demeco, and possibly rotate him in sometimes with Kiko and Kendricks, playing Kiko outside on certain downs.

It seems Demeco is greatly valued for his leadership.

No leader can lead from the bench.

I agree with this - even if he's not playing all the time, having him on the field at certain points can really help

Eagles expected to keep DeMeco Ryans, per report - Bleeding Green Nation

I'm on board with you guys, but keep an open mind to the scenario in this article... it's possible that Kendricks could be used as bait to get to #1 and he could be the odd man out. Wild speculation on their part but something to keep in mind. Personally I wouldn't like that at all and I hope that they either keep him at a reduced rate subbing in or buy him out because a Kendricks/Alonso combo would be far more dynamic in this D.

If we trade Kendricks, Chip could possibly start to lose the locker room.
