Terry Collins says Curtis Granderson will be out for the next couple of days at least. He will not even be used as a pinch hitter. Granderson has been sidelined with a right calf injury.

Terry Collins says the Mets have some "eyes" in Binghamton on Thursday night. He implied that Juan Lagares could be back very soon. Jose Reyes is a little further away. Lagares "would probably be the logical guy," Collins said to return first.

Sandy Alderson says Juan Lagares may be activated from the DL on Friday.

Sandy Alderson projected three to six more games for Jose Reyes with Double-A Binghamton before he joins the major league club. Reyes is 1-for-13 in the minors so far.

This weekend has lined up to be the best case scenario to get Terry Collins and his coaching staff fired.

1. Cubs sweep this 4 game series, including 2 shutouts and a no hitter.
2.The Nats sweep of the Reds will bury the "amazin's" 10 games back in the NL east..and out of the wild card.
3.The Marlins sweeping the Braves would leapfrog Miami into sole possession of 2nd place over the mets by 5 games...and into the wild card.

If I didn't know any better I'd use the old saying for game 1 of this series...
(even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then)

But...the Mets actually did find a way to somehow get a much needed win to say the least.

Morning Briefing: Now score some runs for Jacob deGrom!

NEW YORK -- It took the team with the best record in the majors visiting Citi Field for the New York Mets to finally to wake up.

Now, Jacob deGrom looks to keep things rolling. DeGrom (3-4, 2.67 ERA), who hasn’t won since April 30, opposes Chicago Cubs right-hander Jason Hammel(7-4, 2.58) on Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET.

In the five games started by deGrom in June, the Mets scored three total runs.

Oh by the way, if it’s July 1, that means the Mets owe Bobby Bonilla $1,193,248.20. :L
