At least his defense has been very good. I expect him to come around and post something close to a .350 OBP. Even struggling, I'd rather have him than say a journeyman a la Kevin Frandsen.

Also, not to stock pile the excuses, but it has only been 34 plate appearances. But I get what you're saying. He would have to play amazing to overtake Asche at third base, but that's what he should aspire to do. He's been given an opportunity and he needs to make the most of it (at least so we know he's worthwhile to keep on the bench)
