Buddy Baker diagnosed with inoperable lung caner

He's 74 years old, stepped down from his Sirius satellite radio show.

He had a solid NASCAR career, and I hope he is at peace with the news and his last months be as pain free as possible.

That TNN crew of Eli Gold and him might be the best announcer group the sport has had.

Damn, that sucks..... but he lived a long life for someone who smoked like a chimney.....

I remember seeing pictures of him with a smoke in his face while he was racing..... one of the old school greats!!!!

I feel blessed to have Eli Gold as an Alabama announcer. Especially back in the days when they didn't televise so many games so listening to him call the game was Alabama football.

He wasn't the announcer my entire life, but he's been doing it for a long ass time.

Yep, you smoke a known carcinogen for that long, sooner or later, it will catch up with you. I will always remember Buddy Baker driving one of Petty's Daytona winged warrior cars setting the first 200mph lap at Daytona. Man that car was awesome and Baker took it to new heights along with Richard Petty.
