I am pretty sure Walton and B. Shaw were teammates under Phil and this hire is just another good step in the right direction. Even though I don't have any direct evidence, I'd like to believe Jeanie through Phil had something to do with the Luke hiring and the B. Shaw hiring. Both hirings have her fingerprints. I'd be surprised if short Buss had ANYTHING to do with these latest moves.

Whoever did it...good on them. I think it's more likely that it was Mitch because rumor was that Jeanie wanted to give Byron one more season.

I don't think Luke and Shaw were teammates, but Shaw was an assistant coach when the Lakers won the 2 titles when Luke was on the team.

They just missed being teammates. Shaw retired after the 2002/2003 season, and Walton was drafted in 2003.

I thought it was close on the teammate front but it is definitely a category of both are familiar with coaching and each other and those things are what matters at this point. It'll be interesting to see who else gets the nod.

I don't know about a winning season (what they do in FA will determine that), but I could definitely see a much better season than either of the last 2.

Yep. Once Luke gets done with probably another championship, his team will begin to take shape and then we will have a better idea of just how winning we will be this upcoming season.
