From Jeff Dickerson:
Bears general manager Ryan Pace & Jeremiah Ratliff had a heated conversation in front of Halas Hall in Wednesday during practice time. (He was not practicing)
Today Ratliff was cut.
Speculation is that Police were at HH yesterday.

Bears sign Former Steelers 1st round pick DL Ziggy Hood.

its all speculation at this point couple theories being thrown around...

Ratliff was injured again late in the game against Detroit. The theory is that the Bears may have wanted to place him on IR to be able to use his roster spot. He got pissed and started threatening people= police= cut the next day. (don't know the injury or if this is true?)

I'm hearing now that he has had blow ups at practice in the past. And last year something similar happened the last week of the season? HH security was needed to escort him off the property early in the week. Trestman calmed him down by naming him capt. and playing the last week of the season. ??Rumors...

Crazy Stuff!

“We felt moving forward without Jeremiah was in the best interest of our team,” Bears G.M. Ryan Pace said in a statement. “We appreciate his contributions and wish him well.”

According to several reporters, Ratliff had a heated argument with Pace at the team’s practice facility on Wednesday afternoon:

my best friends son is a Lake Forest Fireman..my friend texted me last night about this..."supposedly" Ratliff came to Halas Hall yesterday "all drugged up"..after words were exchanged he was told he was cut...he left...came back and began threatening coaches, players and players kids who were present saying he was the devil..the police were called but he took off before they arrived..at that time his whereabouts were unknown...take this for what its worth but I believe it to be true..

The Score was reporting something similar this morning. Saying he showed up "unfit to practice" I took it as drunk or drugged too.

Sucks to lose a DLman...but honestly he played in 1.5 games- didn't do anything and wasn't going to be here next year at 35/36 yrs old anyway. If we are building for the future might as see if we can find some fillers.
Pace doing his thing.

Dan McNeil reported it this way.

Ratliff showed up unfit for work, he was sent home so he left.
Ratliff returned angry, he was asked to leave and he left.
Ratliff returned a third time and was cut and escorted off the premises.

There may have been some disciplinary actions if he just stayed home, sobered up and came back to work Thursday, but he would have still been on the team.

What about Ziggy Hood though, I remember hearing some real good stuff about him when the bears were drafting.

That guy is certifiably insane. he needs help, and I don't think the is getting it. We found out the hard way in Dallas, and Chicago now has as well. Jay or Jeremiah...dude needs help.

The Bears will be better off without him.
We really needed that vet leadership with all the young guys on the line. Been nice to have him this year for that reason. But the extra work for others might pay off too.

Yes, veteran leadership is important, which is why long term removing the nutcase from the premises might help the youngsters understand consequences. They have Porter and Rolle to bark at young players.

It's sad. I hope he figures it out. As for this team, I don't think we will even notice his absence.

I don't know if I completely agree with that. When healthy, is probably our best interior lineman.
Agreed... but with this new scheme we were not really sure what he was going to do at his age and injury history. What we now know about his outbursts and substance problems, could have effected his leadership qualities and locker room presence. We know what a poor locker room looks like and how it can sour a team.

I'm really liking what we're seeing from Jenkins. And with another off season of FA's and Draft we can (need to) continue to add young talent. Ratliff was likely done this year anyway...and we've all been told time and again that we weren't going anywhere this year anyway.

I commend Pace for making these decisions. As tough as it might be for fans to see former pro-bowlers go.
