What's everybody's take on these two additions, and where they'll fit in on the defense. I really like the fact that Phillips is good at getting to the QB. He should help deflect the loss of Doom quite a bit. Can't say I see where Bradley fits though other than depth. His last couple season were mediocre at best from what I've read. Is Phillips only going to see the field on passing downs? I dunno.....just some food for thought.

I am pretty much on the same page as you. Bradley will provide depth (my hope is that Nate Irving takes a step forward this season) and Phillips should provide some pressure on the opposite side of Von Miller.

If we can get a push up the middle, Phillips could rack up some pretty good numbers in terms of sacks, since most teams will probably double Von.

Bradley I view in the same way that I viewed Brooking last year. He brings a veteran presence and back up plan incase plan A fails. Irving obviously is who the Broncos are hoping can step up and really take over that MLB position but if he once again is not ready Bradley provides a nice veteran presence that can step in and at least be average at the position. Not the best case scenario but at least there is some kind of back up plan.

Phillips is a little different. He is a quality player that in my opinion gives this defense the ability to play as creatively as they want. The Broncos can switch between 4 man and 3 man fronts with the fact that both Miller and Phillips know how to play this way. They both are at least decent at dropping back into coverage (this is the one area Phillips definitely is an improvement over Dumervil). He can be used as a pass rush specialist (is being paid pretty much to be that kind of player for the Broncos) but can also be in on 1st or 2nd down if needed and do just fine. He should have a pretty good year for the Broncos as he did have 9.5 sacks last year with nobody else on the Chargers team able to rush the passer. I expect him to get near that same production this season. He also provides nice veteran leadership and a fire and nastiness to this Broncos defense that sometimes they have been missing. I kind of like that we have a little bit of a loud mouth on defense now.

That's what I think. Maybe even give us more flexibility to line up Von at DE more often, since Phillips is a good replacement for him at SLB.
