According to several reports, neither Bolden nor Drake are with the Nittany Lions as summer classes get started at the university. Penn State officials have not commented on the reports, which were first published on the recruiting websites Blue White Illustrated and Lions247.com.

Sources say the troubled Drake, who moved from receiver to cornerback in the spring, was struggling with academic issues. There is no word on why Bolden did not enroll in classes for the summer session, but with coach Bill O'Brien saying he plans to name a starting quarterback by the end of the month, some are speculating that Bolden again may be looking to transfer.

I guess the Bolden issue have been hashed out here. But Drake's move to DB was to bolster our depth in the defensive backfield - we're going to be thin back there.

What I'm hearing is that it is going to be Jones starting. They expect to name a starting QB during the summer - which I don't get. Why not wait until the fall when they can compete for it in practice?

clearly the other way only made 1 mediocre qb & one headcase

Well I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes, he isn't NFL material at the QB position. I sincerely hope we start Jones or Bench this fall. I'm not sure that I can stomach another season of McGloin.

And JM - since there is a whole new offense to learn, it just seems like it will be more beneficial to choose one guy before Fall.

It is probably for the best that a new starter be named as soon as possible to get him the most reps before the season begins. That isn't to say that I'm comfortable with it as my gut tells me it'll be McGloin since O'Brien won't watch last year's footage to see that McGloin completely crumbles against good competition.

It appears this may be true.

Just as it appeared his future with Penn State was up in air for the third time in the past year and a half, Bolden’s high school coach told Travis Johnson of the Centre Times Daily that his former quarterback has “no plans to seek a transfer” from Penn State.

Who cares, the writing is clearly on the wall. O'Brien told him he has no shot, he looked into transferring, nobody at d-1a level was interested, so he's staying put for now. I highly doubt he makes it into the fall no matter what his coach says.

PJ will be the starting QB and will be very good. Kid has unlimited talent and is a great kid. One of the nicer recruits and families I got to meet when I used to get sideline passes for all the games.

McPicksix needs to be on the pine or we better be handing Redd the ball 35 times a game

BOB seems to gush when he talks about Jones. I think unless Jones shows he is clearly not ready, he'll be the guy. Too much there to work with for a guy who actually knows how to coach a QB.

Umm I "cared" because the thread is about Bolden transferring and I reported that he is now staying. Nobody actually thinks he's going to play.
