Something tells me that Bosh/Wade won't even speak to other teams. I think those guys will come to an agreement w/the team on July 1st or 2nd

I doubt it. The only way that happens, is if most of the pieces are in place to sign.

Thats what I am hoping for - but agree wit SDGuy,the only way that happens is if the Heat are able to acquire the necessary help. Hopefully these guys have done their recruiting to those targets so that when the day comes they can just sign and agree and make this as painless as possible

As I just posted in the Wade opt out thread, I think all 3 need to wait to actually sign until the new FA are signed if they want to manipulate the salary cap with the Birds rights rule.

Highly doubt that would happen. Usually role players are signed after the big dogs

Possibly.

I didn't know about SportsHoopla until last August. When ESPN shut down their boards. I've check in on this board this year but that Paolo guy is annoying.

If the Heat are smart... this is how it goes down. LeBron signs right away back in Miami. Then very public contract negotiations through the media for Bosh and Wade. Basically let it be known what the money is and the deal is close. With LeBron, the free agents will come. NBA players know all about bird rights and how the salary cap works. You sign the guys we need... then the Wade/Bosh sign later because of how the cap works.

With that said, I think BK is right. Wade/Bosh are both under contract before the 4th of July.

Blame BK for that. Almost all of us are old CBS sports posters..paolo included. When CBS went down BK found this place and sent it us. I remember he asked me if he should invite paolo. I said no. BK did... and here we are.

I'm hoping that Lebron requesting the max from Miami is just rumors. It makes no sense.

it makes perfect sense. he is the best player in the league.. he is already almost a max deal guy now. we had 3 near max deal guys and fielded a pretty damn good team. this idea that somehow we cant win with 3 max deal guys flies in the face of the last 4 years.

wade takes a cut. chalmers gone. bosh takes a cut. haslem takes a cut. battier gone. ray allen takes a cut. we will have plenty of money to bring in better role players with all that happening and LeBron essentially making the same.

the thing is it doesn't make sense to demand your teammates take pay cuts, demand better players and then want the max. Look at manu, duncan, parker. Sure none of them deserve bron caliber money, but they are all playing below market value.

Im as big of a lebron fan as anyone. but if he asks for the max deal he is really fucking himself over. he needs to take something like 4 years 80-85 mil. 3 guaranteed years player option for the 4th. If he takes a max and other take pay cuts it ends up being pretty close to a negligible change in salary cap space. it looks a little hypocritical. you can't demand help and want the max.

:agree:

You can't ask for a max and expect the team to get much better. He's out of his mind if he wants the max and expects them to get more quality role players

I don't think he takes max in Miami....perhaps he says this to keep other teams at bay or trading pieces to attempt to land him.

Why? This isn't football.. you can go over the salary cap in basketball. How much money does he make the Heat? Wade isn't worth a max deal neither is Bosh. Haslem wasn't worth his contract. LeBron is worth a max deal...period.

we won back to back championships with essentially 3 max deal guys.. the idea we 1 max deal guy doesn't leave enough money for a title team is willful ignorance of recent history.
