Wasn't ever really a fan, Joan Jett and Pat Benatar would be in the group of pure rocker chicks imo.

Yeah they were both good. Benatar had a great voice. Ann Wilson is in there too. I liked my rock a bit less polished. I was into punk or pre-punk or whatever you want to call it in the early-mid 70s and Patti Smith was one of the first. The NY Dolls were another early punk influence that I really liked ... trying to keep it on topic here. They didn't sell either. I was Youtube-ing her music after I posted that and came across several videos from her last show I attended in 2013. It was great quality. The guy who recorded them must have been standing right next to me. There's no seating at the place. Just a big room and a stage. I was standing about 5' from the stage. My wife managed to find a place to sit down towards the back. She's a big fan too. Patti put on a fantastic show and can still really rock at 67.

Ann Wilson was great and then she got fat.

Some times you have to break the rules to be influential, so I have to put Alice Cooper in my top three.

Mama Cass was great when she was fat, then died after she got skinny

She supposedly choked on a ham sandwich but that was a false rumor. She actually died from heart failure after a performance in England. She was a great singer.

I didn't feel like going back to peruse the thread...but has anyone listed Fleetwood Mac, or some of the old Motown era groups..(temptations, stevie wonder, supremes, miracles)...or even more importantly, the late great godfather of soul, James Brown ???

I would argue that Bob Marley had a big influence on a lot of the ska/reggae/funk/rock/rap music that came about it he 90s and early 2000s

BTW I fucking live Bob Marley and play it to my daughter any chance I can get
