PORTLAND, Ore. -12/10/14 - (KOIN/CNN) An Oregon brewery is going rogue by going hot and cold on its latest beer.
They produced what they call a Sriracha Hot Stout Beer that contains hot chili sauce.
The creator, Rogue Ales, admits the concept might sound weird, but the company tested the new brew in pubs this past summer and says it was a hit. However, "hot sauce beer" presents a challenge:
"Everybody has their own preference. You really got to find that sweet medium where you get good spice and you deliver on the promise of Sriracha, but you don't burn,” Michael Higgins, the Director of Liquid Development at Rogue Ales.
Bottles of the Sriracha hot stout beer went on sale Monday.
Right now, it's only available in Portland-area pubs and online.
I won't order it online but I'll definitely give it a try when it works it's way down here to the bay area.
