Thinking about starting Eli over Brady in week 2. Brady looked human yesterday with his WR situation. I know Eli is hit or miss but Flacco threw for big numbers vs Denver and I have a feeling Eli will be playing from behind.

Makes sense. I don't think you're stupid. You're right about the Giants likely playing from behind, and Coughlin is probably scared to run it too much :)

This is probably why owners shouldn't draft QB's high though. Imagine Brady is a good RB/WR option and you're "stuck" with Eli? Brady fell to the end of the 4th in one of my leagues and I "had" to draft him... now I'm wishing I didn't... not because of his results, or anything, just because there's too much talent leftover (like Eli) later in the draft.

Great points TKO. I snagged Drew Brees in the 2nd in one league and I'm starting to have some buyer's remorse. I know he's gonna throw a ton, but I'd rather have Cutler + Julio than Brees + Cecil Shorts.

And given the RB situation on both Denver and NYG, both Mannings are an absolute must-start this week no matter what IMO. I'd put the O/U on passing yards in that game at about 850, and I'd probably take the over.

Not something I would do. . but definitely not stupid. Sure wouldn't argue the decision very much.

I got Brady in the 4rth. Brady to me has really never had a ceiling - kind of like Brees , Rodgers, and Manning- meaning they can go for 400 and 4 tds any week. For some reason after watching the Pats , I dont see that happening much this season. With that being said I do see 250 and 2 every week out of him. Eli , on the other hand, can go 400 and 4 or 150 and 3 picks. I will likely play Brady. I will have to look at matchups at other spots to see if I need the big game. Brady plays Thurs

Brady simply doesn't have the receivers he's had during his years of being an elite fantasy QB. Until he has at least Gronk and Amendola on the field together (or until Thompkins or Dobson emerge as a top-10 WR) don't expect anything more than middling results.

Check out his stats 2001-2006. That's half his career. Without a stud receiver he never got to 30 TDs, and only broke 4000 yards once (although winning plenty of games). Add Randy Moss, Welker, Gronk, and a murderer and he's Superman. Take them away and he's a mere mortal.

With reports that Amendola is unlikely to play wk2 (shocker I know)..I change my opinion to not only is it not crazy, but quite possibly the best possible move.

I've never taken Brady in any draft so far. rarely does he fall to a spot where I think he is a value, and this year, he was taken as the 4th-5th QB in most of my drafts, I would have drafted him as the 7th-8th.

Roll with Eli, that game has shootout written all over it. NYJ DEF looked pretty decent vs TB, held everyone in check except VJax, who I am pretty high on this year. No way Coughlin leans on his RBs this week.

Hmmm.... you can't, like, not have any running plays. Scott? Cox? I wonder if Cox gets a chance to do some basic executing.

That's about like saying the Pope won't pray on Sunday. Coughlin will run, and eli will still score well

Score at halftime: 13-10
Number of rushing attempts by NYG RBs: 6
Ended up with 14 total rushing attempts

They had more rushing attempts when playing from a deeper hole in the 2nd half. I'm not too sure that Coughlin will stick to his normal rushing offense with Wilson in the dog house and Brown injured. Yea, at some point in this season we will see a lot of rushing attempts from NYG, I just dont think too many will come from the week2 game v DEN

My first though was yes you are stupid then I opened the thread and read it.... Ok done with the jokes.

It would be worth a shot. Danny Amendola is injured probably wont play that leaves him nothing but rookie WR. Eli despite the TO did throw 4 TDs and a ton of yards. They will run it less because of Wilsons fumbles and not much after him.

As far as QB goes I think to get Brees or Rodgers or Peyton in the first would be worth it QBs rack up points now that most teams are throwing. and definitely a Calvin Johnson type in round 2

Well if our collective week 1 advice is any indicator of future success. ..Brady will have 400 and 5, Eli will have 150 and 0, and 5 picks.

Just to quickly touch on this although it has little to do with the topic at hand...
The fact that teams are throwing like they is the exact reason why QB's aren't worth a #1. There are more QB's that can throw for 300+ and 3 TD'S than ever before. ..higher supply means less value, even for those elite.
If you'd like to make this discussion more in depth, a thread on the other board would be great, and I'm sure it'd make for great debate/conversation.

Good call. I would have went with Brady this week. Now, Id wait until Gronk gets back to rank Brady among the elite QBs anymore.
