The Puds have a scheduled off day today?

WTF?

And the Braves had a scheduled 2-day break earlier this week.

the MLB schedulers have been hanging out with Manfred WAY too much.

Baseball is just so weird with small sample sizes. Rockies take 2 of 3 from LA in LA

That was fucking shit.

Are we about to run out of gas?
We weren’t going to go the rest of the season winning every series. Even the ‘01 Mariners lost series, and they won 116 regular season games.

That said, this team is not built for the post season. I hope I am wrong, but I just don’t think I am. Good pitching shuts us down and we don’t have the pitching to shut down other good hitting teams.

Yeah this is my feeling too. Still, what a fun year, and still going! And like I just said, short sample size weird stuff sometimes happens...worth rooting for anyway.

We will make the post season but how far we go is questionable. In most cases it's all about pitching. Especially the SP. The deeper in the game they can take you the better. SP is not one of our strengths. But Charolette and Gas can make any series interesting.
I also feel the the post season will be a real test for Kapler. In the past he's been critized for pulling SP too quick. Now he leaves them in a touch too long. In the post season there aren't too many chances to 'get them tomorrow'. Very little room to recover from bad decisions.
The one real bright spot we have is our 'power' and the way it is distributed in the line up. We don't have a 45 HR guy but we will have 8 guys with 20+. What hurts a SP the most are mistakes. We have 8 guys that can take advantage. If the pitching can keep it close .... we will be very dangerous .....

Outside of Webb and /crosses fingers Gaus, I think you're right. We need one of those Barry Zito moments I think. Maybe JC?

My guess would be JC. We need one of the starters outside of Webb and Gaus to provide what Zito did for us. The Cuerto situation is very similar in my mind. Cuerto has always shown flashes of what he was capable of doing as a starter. He was just never consistent though. One great start followed by an injury followed by a few medicore follow-ups. We need a few great starts from him when we hit the playoffs. This maybe his last chance to step into the spotlight .... I just hope it is another Barry Zito moment for us ..... and for him as well ...

Here's my take, and I know that I'm not always the positive guy - The Giants are still in 1st place and look very likely to make the playoffs. If they get eliminated from the playoff contention in September, that will be very disappointing but very unlikely. None of us expected anything close to this kind of season. I'll be happy with whatever they do come October. Anything short of a WS title would be sad but, at the same time, any win in the postseason will be icing on a surprisingly good season.
