Sucks about Melky. Honestly until they get someone other than the monopoly that is the USADA to administer these tests, I look at all positives with a skeptical eye. I am a (well was a, I have moved on up) lab scientist and without multiple independent tests, things this sensitive always concern me.

I am not saying people are not using PEDs. I am just saying, the testing procedures don't really pass muster in my eye.

I would like to see the MLB contract two separate independent labs (preferably not USADA or WADA who have a history of corruption). If both tests come back positive, fine, if only one then they go to a third or re-test. Like you said, it can ruin a reputation so they need to be DAMN sure before they punish these guys.

You'd think the one independent arbiter would weigh all this. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone who tested positive who didn't eventually admit to have used. Not counting guys like Bonds and Clemens where the chain of custody wasn't monitored in any fashion.
