This horrible roadie should motivate the brass t make a move or two I would think. But do we need a bat as well as a starter and a reliever? Good luck with all that.

I really don't think they need a bat. Panik, Duffy, EA and Pence should all be back (with KT waiting int the wings for Sept 1 AND a playoff roster spot).

This team needs a starter and 2 relievers.

I guess you are right about the bat. But I think we only need a lefty reliever, and a starter. We aren't getting Sale or Chapman. So any ideas who we could realistically get? We've already discussed Abad as the reliever.

I like Archer, but I fear he is headed south. Maybe Quintana??? Maybe we just hand the ball to Mejia or Stratton?

Mejia or Stratton have to get a shot sometime but man I hope our pennant hopes don't rest on a kid like that.

John Heyman was on the radio out here in LA talking about what it would take (the Dodgers) to get either Sale, Quintana, or Archer and the consensus was that it would take a king's ransom to get any of these three because TB was not really interested in dealing Archer, see him as one of their nucleus players. The ChiSox seem MUCH more interested in unloading Sale and/or Quintana but they aren't going to go the fire-sale route. Because of the ridiculously weak 2017 FA market and the relatively weak trade market, the ChiSox feel they can get significant value in return for either of their stud pitchers.

Since the break, the Giants have gone 1-7 and the dogs have only picked up 3.5 games in the standings (assuming they finish today).

They have done nothing to cut the lead.

And why ignore before the break. We used to have an 8 game lead, now its 3. We weren't going to run away with it but I figured Kershaw going down would help a bit more.

Acquiring a couple of relievers should be Evans' top priority to shorten the starts for Peavy, Cain, and Samardzija.

L.A.'s strong bullpen has picked up the slack, and their key hitters are getting hot, while the Giants' lineup has mostly gone cold.

Why not give Ty Blach a look from Sacto? He's improved each year since 2013. He eats innings, throws strikes, doesn't walk many, and seems to know how to pitch.

It's not like our homegrown pitchers never pan out. Stratton too might be a possibility, and Gearrin is coming off the DL soon.
