You think they wouldn’t mix in a year or two of Rodgers?
That would be surprising. You end up right where you were for the 5 years prior with no future QB. Why not develop the 1st round guy.

The one drafted 20th overall or the one drafted 26th overall?

I agree and I think Pickett showed enough that he can be a decent QB going forward. Considering who they had for an O.C. , I think most Steeler fans are happy with that draft choice.

Pickett was the 32nd-best qualifying passer by passer rating. (He played overall a little better than that, though.)

Mia may need a legit starter. Tua was still in concussion protocol as of last week.

What was Manning's his first year?

If you never learn to throw and take your lumps in this league then you turn into jimmy garoppolo instead of Peyton Manning

Mahomes sat for a year. Rodgers sat for three.

The question is whether the Steelers think an available QB can turn them into an immediate likely SB champion. If that's the case Pickett can sit for a year or two. I'm just putting the possibility of a move like that out there, which is why there's the question mark. I think the Steelers probably roll with Pickett, and I'm 50/50 on the Falcons rolling with Ridder.

Texans - Stroud
Indy - Young
Seattle - Geno + Day-2 QB
Giants - Jones
Commanders - Tannehill competing with Howell
Jets - Richardson
Vegas - Rodgers
Titans - Carr
TB - Garoppolo
Saints - Winston + Day-2 QB
Panthers - Levis
Falcons - Ridder
Steelers - Pickett
Dolphins - Mayfield (b/u to Tua)

Wentz either sits or takes a big pay cut as competition for a young QB, maybe with the Jets
Heinicke/Darnold backups somewhere
Dalton retires

He already played. You can't "Mahomes or Rodgers" him now. He needs to develop.

The Falcons passed on Ridder a couple times, they could easily "pass" on him again. Not the same.

Maybe Heinicke as backup/competition for Ridder.

Yeah, that passer rating thing by itself never means much to me, tbh. Hell, JimmyG was 3rd best. Obviously, the kid wasn't the next Mahomes but he's a gamer and showed he can play. All things considered, the Steelers could be worse off. They need at least another full season from him, maybe 2 to see what their future is, imo.
