The team won 81 games last year in a disaster - this year there is a better manager and a better culture. Pito's gone and the rest of the guys have to get off their duffs and make up the difference. It will be difficult to get less games out of Timmy or Robert than last year's injuries - Eloy will spend more time at DH than OF. Colas is a rookie, but he will probably give more help to the team from RF than any of the last 11 guys to play there for the Sox. Two LH bats have been added to the lineup to help correct the weakness against RH pitching. Even Grandal appears to be ready for a contract season. The worn out Leury Garcia is gone.
ok, back to reality. we lost one of the best relievers in baseball and there's no timetable for him to return. our rbi machine is gone. pitching MIGHT be good but it very well might not. i don't know what to expect from clevenger or kopech. giolito MAY have turned things back around but that's also no given. i'm worried about 3rd base, catcher and a rookie in right. i'm also not convinced we don't have several glass players on the team.
We're giving up touchdowns and field goals of late. I said it before, if we can't rely on our rotation to keep us in these games, we won't have any shot at making the postseason. Hell, we won't have any shot at even playing .500 ball.
You can't change your predictions after the fact. You can however do like me and start checking out the leading contenders for the '24 draft. Cuz we gonna be selecting our pick very early.
