BTW the same thing is done in college sports with the 5 star, 4 star .... crap. There are always some 5 star recruits who get handled by some 3 star recruits.

I am reminded of a guy we had that played WR and CB. Some local PG County guy that knew Norm Chow called him and said you better take a look at this kid. He got a scholarship at Hawaii and then transferred to Wisconsin where old Baltimore safety was the DC. He got two or three years in the NFL. He was not highly recruited. I can tell more stories like that but you get the point. It is just not an exact science.
As a person who is friends with a dude who works on Recruiting site I can 100 percent tell you 5 star just means they will more likely to start there freshman Year because there body is already ready... if you want I can send you pictures of 0 stars in year 1 at a college then in year 2 look like Hercules .. and there is also the Highschool football training rules are different in each state .. example in Kansas once Highschool football season is over you can't practice .. but some states you can still practice it's a year round thing .. and also the Portal is destroying the NFL draft moving forward most drafts will look like this one we just had but that is a whole other discussion

Can you imagine what a NFL scout has to go thru drafting or studying a college athlete who Portal

1. Why did he Portal
2. Did he Portal or did he get cut
3 why did he get cut
4 . Why did he Portal
5 . Did the coaches like him etc etc

You can see it's a nightmare just evaluate a player that Portal .. Some GMs will say will not draft a Portal player ..not because he is not good it's because it's to much homework

I don't even know if Forbes can even make it the NFL if you are skin and bones there is less padding to the bone . I would definitely if I was coach I would make him wear some sort of arm and forearm pads

There are several examples of players who played at Forbes weight in the nfl: Honey Badger being one, fred smoot being another.

It isnt like Forbes is oblivious to his own size: he played in the SEC, and his scouting report suggests he doesnt shy away from contact (just like Freddy Smoot).

Since you cant teach instinct, and supposedly he has elite instincts, for now this picks seems solid. You can bet that opposing offenses are going to run plays his way, and shift their big wr’s his way too to see what he can do.

for every smoot or honey badger their are 100’s even 1000’s who dont make it at those weights

but last I checked 190 lbs is heavier then 166
the last I checked. 174 lbs is heavier then 166

last I checked 6-1 is taller then 5-9 and 5-10

now we could talk about ratios and maybe you can understand that your examples aren’t any good

now can stick figure beat the odds ? Absolutely, hope he does, but that remains to be seen

If dude was this weight AND had a history of injury, I would be concerned. But he missed all of one game since he took over as starter as a freshman, and he left one game due to a hand injury.

Very true. He was durable, played in the SEC, and produced in the SEC.

You have an impressive mastery of kindergarten level math - the abiility to compare two different numbers to determine which one is larger.

I commend you!

Forbes is 166.
Smoot was 185.
Honeybadger was 190.

I am not against the pick but I do worry about the size.

If Gonzales was off the board, the Forbes pick would be rated as an excellent pick. The only downside of the Forbes pick is his weight. Based on production and Talent he was rated as a Day 1 pick.

No question about it. My only knock is his weight but I love the ball skills.

I believe Samari Rolle was about that size, but don’t quote me.

I worry about his size too, but he missed one game in high school and college, and is one of TEN kids. This dude knows how to mix it up, without getting too hurt, having had to do it since he was young.
