This is what happens when management doesn't think that they need to do a thing in the off season.
They lost their closer ad never replaced him. They lost a key long reliever and never replaced him. They thought a flash in the pan pitcher (Evoldi) would be the same and he can't get on the field.
Worse, Alex Cora is a bad disciplinarian and ran a half assed spring training. Nearly every guy on the 25 man roster had at least three days during the spring after having nearly six months off after the World Series. Not once, not one game were the guys on the 25 man roster required to travel to play an away game in Florida.
It wasn't training at all, it was a country club. When the season started, the Red Sox were already a step behind everyone else. Here it is August and they're two steps behind.
Drombowski did zip. He did nothing during the off season and less at the trade deadline. He's as useless as condoms in a convent.
The GM and manager need to figure out where they want to take this team and start the process now, not in December. There ain't no Santa Claus boys.
