I tried watching the movie once. About 15 minutes in, I was bored to tears and turned it off. Thanks to that shit movie, that's 15 minutes of my life I completely wasted.
It the best of all the Hughes movies. By a pretty good margin.

One thing this thread demonstrates is that comedy is very subjective.

If I had never seen Evil Bong 2, I might consider Hot Tub Time Machine to be the lamest movie I ever watched.

Looking through my collection, here are some classic old comedies, grouped by decade:

1930
Modern Times - must see for anyone who has worked in a factory.
Bringing Up Baby
I have a few Marx Brothers, but they don't stand out to me as being exceptionally funny.

1940
My Little Chickadee - the team of Fields/West is a major improvement over Fields solo stuff.
Tales of Manhattan
The Major and the Minor
Arsenic and Old Lace
Monsieur Beaucaire - my favorite Bob Hope of this era. Lots of his older stuff is pretty good.

1950
Bedtime for Bonzo
Monkey Business - with Grant/Rodgers/Monroe. Marx Brothers was made in 1931.
Abbott and Costello Go to Mars
Some Like It Hot
The Mouse That Roared
A Bucket of Blood

1960
The Apartment
Who Was that Lady?
The Road to Hong Kong - last of the Hope/Crosby "road" series, with Joan Collins
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World - cast reads like a who's who of comedy
The Pink Panther
A Shot in the Dark - arguably funnier than Pink Panther
Dr. Strangelove
Our Man Flint - only Bond spoof actually worth watching
I Love You, Alice B. Toklias - might be my favorite Peter Sellers

Austin Powers was one of the best series but they burned it to the ground
