Do we want Bum as a 1 or 2 inning guy tonight, or as a specialist?

We only have 2 lefties in the pen. Maybe using Bum as a LOOGY is a better strategy???

Well, I would say we don't want him at all. If he comes in its because we are in trouble. If, by some chance, Hudson can get us through six then I think we go with the relievers who got us here. If he's not starting, I hope he just grabs a good seat and is enjoying a runaway victory.

I understand your thinking. It's similar to what I was thinking with Peavy yesterday in that why is it our plan to only bring in the better pitcher (Petit) once we have fallen behind? It's backwards thinking. However, I think this situation is different. First of all, Hudson hasn't struggled against the Royals like Peavy has. Secondly, Bumgarner went 9 innings and threw 117 pitches just 3 days ago. It's unfair to him to make him start. We can't put this game on his shoulders. Bumgarner will be there to help, but someone else will have to step up and be the lead dog in this one.

I think its also negative strategy. With this, you are expecting Peavy and Hudson to fail so you keep Petit in reserve. By starting Petit, you are telling the team, "we are going with our best option and we are going to win it right here."

I am one who thought the call was Petit all the way for game 6. He's clearly the second best pitcher on the team.

A first pitch swing after the pitcher has just walkedthree batters is different than a first pitch swing leading off an inning, or seeing a reliever for the first time. That was a horrible at bat by Posey. Getting even a sac fly would have put some air in the tires. A single or double sows seeds of doubt in KC. A FPGIDP deflated a team that was already down. They did nothing after that at the plate.

Here's to a better. Night this evening.

Fine. *Don't* get over it. Let's everyone bitch about it until April.

I love that move. Solid D....kid has had some nice ABs over the last couple weeks, and it leaves Ishikawa as an option against the power righties in the KC pen late in the game.

We'll see if Bochy pushes another magic button......

Go Giants!

I've always thought Perez could hit. He has been a .300 hiter in the minors with some power and I never understood why he struggled so mightily in the Majors. I'm really pleased to see him come though this post season when he's been given an opportunity.

Further complicating the issue here is the epic failure in the WS of Peavy and Vogey. We were probably ready to pay them a combined $15 or $18 million next year. We may have to reallocate that money, perhaps to a certain free agent 3b of ours.

But I digress. I think there's a game tonight.

I thought about that too when trying to find a bright side to some of this. Based on Peavy's late season performance I think the Giants were ready to spend some money on him. Now they'll be more judicious on how they spend that money.

You know...

Just because you poured the Wheaties does not mean you HAVE to eat it, even if someone pooped in it. Just pour yourself a fresh bowl.

BTW...

We HAVE to win tonight. I do not want that AB to be an AB I never forget.
One positive we have going tonight is that, in my opinion at least, Guthrie is their worst starter.

And, tz...

Get to it man. We need the gdt...

I think yesterday's shellacking chased him off. He takes losses hard. Someone else is gonna have to step up with the GDT and it ain't me.
