The number 1 ranking doesn't mean much at this point of the season, but it's a big deal for the program to get that title and it looks good for recruiting and from a marketing standpoint.

All eyes are on us now. Every single game we will be the hunted and we will get everyone's best game as long as we are #1. Hope we can keep this ranking as long as possible.

BEAR THE FUCK DOWN! :suds:

Yep, doesn't mean shit in March, but it does show recruits that Miller can get you to be #1 during the season. That means that you are securely the front-runner in the NC discussion. And, every game at #1 is more pressure than pretty much every March game except for the NC, and maybe the FF.

So it's good that the team gets the feel of that now, so that it wont be so new when March comes.

Finally, it puts AZ in a seat at the big boys' table in CBB. No one can say that AZ isn't relevant. Because not only are we ranked the best, we beat the best to get there (which wasn't the case with Gonzaga last year). If we can just get past Michigan, we should have the top spot for at least a month until we play UCLA, and longer if we win that. So we just want to show that we can not only get it, but keep it.

Bottomline gents, is that from now until we lose, we are the kings of college basketball. Welcome to the penthouse!

The ranking is an awesome way to get opponents fired up. First defense starts against nmsu. They are currently playing very tough against a good Gonzaga team. Our guys will definitely need to bring it.

What an amazing time it is to be a wildcat! I couldn't be happier for Sean Miller. He seems to really embrace the fact that he is the head coach of the number one team in the nation. Congrats coach, you've done one heck of a job this far and you deserve all the credit. Keep it going!

Glad we get to keep this ranking for a while now.

Struggled today. Although, it's not easy winning in Michigan.

Solid win, you need games like this to be a great team, and great teams win these kinds of games.

Enjoy it while you have it. Could be awhile, Zona should run right through the Pac.

Yup, wasn't an easy game at all. 10 am start time (in AZ) and on the road in a crazy environment vs. a talented team. Battled the entire game and pulled it out, and that's what great teams do as you said.

Running the Pac won't be as easy as you think, though. Road games @UCLA, Colorado, and Oregon will be very difficult and we will be tested again.

Unless Arizona is a fraud (which I don't think they are) I see maybe, maybe 3 losses in conference play. Like I said, maybe.

Thank you sir. But the Pac schedule is always a fickle beast (much like all conferences). I think we have two losses, give or take. CU and Oregon on the road resemble Michigan at least in hostility, if not also in talent. Plus, there is always a wildcard loss in there somewhere.

We definitely struggled today, but it gives us some things to work on, and builds character/heart. Hahahaha, we can definitely say (when we are on the road and down by 9 at the half), "Welp, we've been here before!"

I think all we are hoping that the ranking will do is just show people that we are supposed to be in the NC talk. Not a lock, perhaps not even a favorite, but definitely in the convo. I think when it comes down to us knowing that #1 in December doesn't really mean a lot, we can at least take that from it. Because really, the only way to get that respect is to take the top spot for longer than a week or two.:suds:
