I had Fautanu much higher than Guyton. Top 3 OT prospect IMO. And in most scouts/analyst's opinions too.
When Tomlin says that, he speaks for the entire staff. I trust the GM & scouting department.
I hate how good everyone in the AFCN is at drafting lol. Loved the Mims & Wiggins picks.
But no homerism here, I expected the Steelers to draft Mims even though I had Fautanu rated higher. Did not expect him to fall.
Now I just need the Bengals & Ravens to be idiots for the rest of the draft...
As Tomlin said in the presser... "We weren't moving off Troy"
They had him rated that much higher on their board and didn't expect him to fall. That alone says everything you need to know.
Dulac has been more reliable than most. But all media shouldn't be as trusted as they are. Their main initiative is to produce material that drives ratings, even if its more based on rumors than inside sources.
I see why the Steelers didn't pull the trigger on Barton though. They've done enough...
Interesting rumor. Seems like misdirection to me. But Omar is likely just doing his homework like any good GM would. Just calling around and inquiring everyone's asking price to get the landscape mapped out.
Grain of salt. Schefter is often wrong.
That said, it should be a no brainer. He hasn't proven to be worth the $25m yet. Since Wilson is starting, he won't have that opportunity either. Bad business decision to sign up for that amount when you won't even know if he's worth it. And this doesn't...
Still keep wrestling around in my head over who I think is the best C to take in Rd 1. Honestly would be happy with any of the top 3, but my heart still sways towards JPJ or Frazier. Barton's athleticism is by far the best out of the group, but I always feel apprehensive about going overboard...
Great work. I'd be happy with any of those scenarios. All safe picks with sound judgement. That said, I expect the Steelers to do something weird somewhere along the way.
