So why the hell can't Canada win a Cup? It's been 30 years now. They've made up roughly a quarter of the league in that span. A statistical analysis (below) finds the odds of Canada having zero cups in this span is only 0.7%.
I'm just curious if you all have any theories you have read or...
Well I was bored and took some data and created a weighted system that objectively measures the best and worst performing NHL franchises of all-time. It weighs overall season records, playoff records, and Stanley Cup appearances/victories approximately evenly. Included categories are number of...
I am helping a friend who has enlisted a few of us with testing an AI platform he built. He got some volunteers for social media, message boards, etc. to have our accounts taken over for 30 days. He is testing out the program he built to see how accurate it comes to the original. The program...
You will die one year from today.
But... your favorite hockey team will win the Stanley Cup at the end of the current season They will even be down by 5 goals to start the 3rd period in game 7 of the finals only to come back and tie it in the last 10 seconds of regulation and win it in...
I want to see what team is considered to be a good guy team or bad guy team the most often, so here is the exercise...
Take the following list and divide the teams on the list into one of TWO categories - Good Guys or Bad Guys.
No neutral or third categories accepted, you have to make a choice...
Mine might be average, or maybe even a little small compared to some of you.
Who has the biggest list of cities you've traveled to see an NHL game? Which was your favorite?
Post your list with a * when you saw a game without seeing your favorite team, but went just to watch some hockey...
Ovechkin is back at 100%. Wilson is doing fine. Torenthal James Oshie is ready to go. No word on Kuzy's status for this series. The Caps come into this series with one of the whackiest final two weeks of the season I've ever seen - Wilson controversy, Oshie's dad died, Kuzy/Samsonov...
Been a heavy couple of days - so here's a puff thread. Fast Food! Move over pizza thread, there's a new dish in town... and it's loaded with sodium!
What's the best fast food sandwich?
What menu item do you wish they would bring back? (Don't everyone say McDonald's chicken fajitas at once!)...
Seriously, it's productive. If your team is a lottery team, being 28th in the league is much better odds than being 24th. The odds skew better towards the worse teams, and whatever skew you get is worth hoping for so your team gets better draft odds.
Players don't tank. They are out there...
This team's fans sure are spreading lately.
Seems like even though they aren't playing, there fans are growing in certain states. (looks around corner)
Jersey sales seem high in Texas and Florida recently.
And we haven't heard much from Coach Faucerelli latetly either. He has been absent...
What are the playoff series you are just chomping at the bit to see in this year's postseason?
We don't know who will make it to the playoffs yet or how the rounds will play out, but who do you want to see meet up?
I'll give my three:
-Calgary/Edmonton
-Washington/Pittsburgh
-Toronto/Boston
Midseason/holiday lull, so here's an inject for some debate - ESPN just put out it's top 100 players of the 2010s.
Here it is:
The top 100 NHL players of the decade
Any thoughts?
They are going to win it.
I mean, sure, everybody still has a chance. But the Canes are pretty done now. The Stars can't beat this team. I'd say the Sharks have a slim chance IF they beat their second round opponent, but that would likely go to 7 anyway. Only so many times you can take a series...
Best of luck to both teams. Hope it's a clean series and the refs aren't a factor. May the best team win. All the Metro series should be close since there wasn't much separating the teams this season.
Let's hope that in the meantime that the Isles and Penguins beat the living hell out of...
In this thread I will post pictures, lists, etc. and you have to tell me...
"what is that?!?"
Your first challenge...
Scott Stevens(New Jersey)
Alexander Ovechkin(Washington)
Mike Richter(New York Rangers)
Jarome Iginla(Calgary)
Tomas Sandstrom(Los Angeles)
Jonathan Toews(Chicago)
Andy...
The Montreal Canadiens had the most points in a season in 1977 when they recorded 132.
The Tampa Bay Lightning now sit at 106 with 15 games to play. Meaning they could earn as many as 136 by season's end. Or as many as 143 if you are really bad at math.
Do you think they will tie or beat the...
These players have been on a LOT of hockey teams.
If Jagr had one more, I think he's your best of the bunch, but who do you rate the best of these well worn players?
Sillinger, Mike 1990-2009 FLA,STL,DET,PHI,OTT,NYI,MDA,TBL,PHX,VAN,CBJ,NSH 12
Connelly, Wayne 1960-1977...
