I quite personally don't give a damn what he wants. He avoided the meeting, if those reports are true, because he was "disgruntled." Honestly if you're mad, why not try to sit down and be a fucking man and work things out? Sounds like he has the mental toughness of an 8-year old.

If he thinks the Spurs are gonna trade him wherever he wants to go after how he's acting, he has a really rude awakening coming.
All these are just reports...but if true, if I'm the Spurs, I could care less if I help build a superteam so long as I get, either equal value, or young players that have star potential. Superteams last for like 4 years, or until the veterans get older. You eat those 4 years, hope your young guys blossom, and the superteam eventually goes away as your young players possibly take over

All this talk about the Spurs sending him somewhere he doesn't want to go is so short-sighted. He'll play wherever for a season, then be able to walk and go wherever he wants next summer. If he wants to join/form a super team, he can do so next summer and the Spurs can't do anything about it. This supposed power that the Spurs hold in these trade scenarios is short lived and overstated.

If the Spurs oblige and trade him to the Lakers, they're weak. I know he's gone but they really should not trade him to a rival. Lakers fans are insufferable enough lol

So, you would rather have Tobias Harris and 2 mid firsts over the much better Laker package?

Clips would need assurances that he would re-sign to even offer that much. That would be giving away all their rebuild tools this summer for a potential rental. If he truly wants the Lakers, it would be awfully easy to just change locker rooms next summer.

after the meeting with Leonard itll be interesting to see what comes out.

The Spurs had a similar situation with Alrdidge last year- did not panic and it worked out. They saw what the Cavs did with Kyrie and wont make the same mistake.

It would surprise me if Kawhi is traded anytime soon- even to an Eastern Conference team like Philly or Boston.

All of these trade scenarios in which the Spurs trade Kawhi to the Lakers and take back Deng's contract seem really specious to me. It isn't necessary to complete a trade, after July 1st. And doing so would pave the way for the Lakers to be able to sign both PG and Lebron. I can't picture a situation in which Pop would want to do the Lakers that sort of favor.

That's what keeps getting lost in all of this - Pop.

Dude, I hope Spurs fans know this means he's gone.

Last year, a tweet about Paul went out and it's Damn near identical....

He gone.

....and it's to the Lakers.

It seems like from reports he wants to stay in Houston.

CP3, Lebron and Kawhi or PG, Lebron and Kawhi? Who would you take?

He may wind up trading with the Lakers if their offer is that much better than any other offer. But he's sure as shit not going to do in the most favorable way possible for the Lakers.

Taking on the Deng contract makes absolutely no sense for the Spurs. It makes a ton of sense for the Lakers.

That’s why they need a 3rd team, ship Ball and Deng to a team and a pick, then send Kuzma and Ingram and picks to SAS

I completely agree with you. I could see Pop trading Kawhi to the Lakers if he's backed in a corner. But to take on the Deng contract makes zero sense for the Spurs, and that's something I just don't see happening.

You think the Spurs would be willing to take this deal if they have to take back Parsons:

Memphis gets: Kevin Love and Cedi Osman

Cleveland gets: Kawhi Leonard

San Antonio gets: #4 and #8 picks, Rodney Hood and Chandler Parsons

No way that trade makes it through the trade machine. Leonard makes $20 million. Rodney Hood and Chandler Parsons are a combined 28 million or so.

The Spurs have $12M in cap space add in Kawhi and that gives them $32M. The money isn’t the problem. It’s the Parsons contract

The Spurs would likely have to include Patty Mills.
