Steph is probably the best shooter of all time for one reason, he does it off the dribble just as well as catch and shoot. Bird was also really good at this, but Allen, Miller, Kerr, were all spot up/catch and shoot type players. Thompson is very much in that catch and shoot category too. Mullin was really great too and underrated.

It's Curry. It sorta isn't all that close when you break it down. He's consistent whether its spot up, off balance, off the dribble, etc. It doesn't matter. His release is lightning quick and the same in every instance. That's soooo hard to do. Not even Bird could do that, at least not with the quickness off the dribble that Curry can. The answer is Curry.

Best all-time shooter - Ray Allen. Curry will eventually pass him.

Allen's the all-time leader in 3's made and has a solid 3-pt FG%. Also, when it came down to hitting a ballsy shot, Allen did it in game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.

Kerr was great. There are plenty like him in history though. Thing is, he was a catch and shoot guy. The shots he took were nowhere near as difficult as Curry's or even Miller/Allen. You can't use percentages without considering difficulty of the looks. Obviously, a star player will generate more attention from opposing defenses. Therefor, their attempts become more difficult.

Volume is also important. Curry is able to combine volume with accuracy, which makes him the most impactful 3 point shooter all time. Without looking it up, my guess is that Kerr averaged less than 2 made 3-pointers per game. I think Curry averaged 5 makes per game this season. His ability to create his own shot allows him to do this.

I looked up some stats and was surprised by many of them. Reggie Miller didn't even make 40% of his 3-point attempts (only .395). Ray Allen was only at .400. I thought it would be higher. Nowitzki was only .368. I figured it would be higher because with his height, it's probably tough to bother his shot.

I am honestly a little shocked by the poll responses, because I don't think it is particularly close.

I have heard Reggie Miller say that Curry is the best shooter of all time. I have also heard Larry Bird say that he believes modern era basketball is as good or better than his era because of their ability to use the 3 point line. It would not be a huge leap to infer that he would agree with Reggie.

Curry is the best shooter ever by a wide margin. Longevity does not matter. What he has done over the past few years far and away surpass what guys like Allen and Miller were able to accomplish over their careers. Curry literally has every single season record.

Curry: 1,593 made 3s on 44.4 % over 7 years
Allen: 2,973 made 3s on 40.0 % over 18 years
Miller: 2,560 made 3s on 39.5% over 18 years
Bird: 649 made 3s on 37.6% over 13 years

Guys, this isn't even a fair fight. For those who answered Bird, keep in mind that Curry has made more 3s over his last two regular seasons than Bird did in his entire career. If Curry stays healthy, he will definitely break Allen's career 3 record within the next 5 seasons. If he can average better than 70 games played a year, he might break it in the next 4.

I disagree. If we are talking the best, it means guys who can do it for a long time and be efficient. But I agree is without a question the best at this point bc how great he is, his release, the fact he can do it spot up or off the dribble, etc. All these are factors. If he continues the shooting, he will be the best by a wide wide margin, but what if he has 3-4 season shooting below 35%. I don't think it will take him out of the top spot but the margin will close bc those other guys were great shooters for so long and not just a couple years.

Clutch shooter. I would have to go Ray Ray but best shooter is Steph, no doubt.

I remember Jordan or Bird..maybe Magic (during the Dream Team) stating that Mullin would annihilate everyone in "Horse". That he would hit shit from the 4th row en sech.
