So cutting Barbre also saves a million in cap space.

Cutting Herremans saves 2.8 million on the cap.

The Eagles started with middle of the pack cap space, now they're near the top 10. We have plenty of money to do what we wish in free agency.

I wonder if they will cut Demeco Ryans. This will start adding up to some real money soon.

I am wondering if they are targeting a Guard in Free Agency? No sense in cutting Herremans before the draft unless you know for a fact you have his replacement lined up. $2.8M is not terribly out of line for a veteran guard, and if they were planning on drafting one, they may prefer to keep the vet around.

The other alternative is they may feel comfortable with Gardner/Tobin/Barbre as a replacement? At least as good at a lower price?

Wondering if Stoutland could have his eye on Orlando Franklin who played for him at Miami?

His age is up there and I thought he had a pretty bad injury last season? I'm sure there is a reason for his release. Tough to see him go.

Move Cam Erving and Jake Fisher up on your draft boards...

That's what I was thinking. Either could be in play at 20 or a short move down like last year.

I am thinking just the opposite. If you are thinking draft, you keep the player on your roster until draft day when you see how it plays out. The Herremans replacement is either a FA or on the roster.

Franklin gets very high grades on PFF, Denver can't afford him, and he played for Stoutland for 4 years at UM. It seems like a perfect match and the sort of thing where everyone knows each other so well, they probably have already talked and worked it all out unofficially.

Was Stoutland at Alabama before or after UM?

Reporters are tweeting that this could be a precursor to going after Franklin, noting the Stoutland connection. That would be pretty good, but I think Franklin was better a year ago than last year.

The Saints may reportedly cut both their starting guards, Jahri Evans and Ben Grubbs, because they are badly over the cap (remember when people thought they handled last FA better than Philly?).

Evans may still have something in the tank, but Grubbs had an off year according to Saints fans, who seem to want him gone.

I am not sure about Todd's contract, but a number of guys are being cut around the league right now because of the NFL year starting soon. They have to be cut or are owed at least some money against the current cap depending on how their deals were done.
