According Erik Burkhardt: "After this weekend, there will be 10 starting NFL Qbs (this year) who played High School football in Texas. NONE went to the University of Texas."

I've always been pissed that Auburn let Phillip Rivers get away but the above almost makes me feel better about it.

On the bright side Texas isn't recruiting 5 star QBs from Arkansas either (very bad idea and I will shoot the Auburn coach that signs another one).

Although I agree with the premise that Mack should be fired, this is one of the dumbest criticisms I've heard about him.

There are over 300 D1 level players coming out of the state of Texas. He can't POSSIBLY hit on every one of them, and these types of comments ignore how each player was ranked, WHO Texas had on the roster at the time, and WHY they weren't pursued, offered, or why they CHOSE not to sign.

It's just stupid, short sighted, and pointless.

how many qbs from texas have transferred from UT to start elsewhere?

A couple. And all of them busted. As a Florida fan, you should know this as well as anyone since you got one of those failed QBs.

I 100% agree, recruiting is as much about scouting as it is about convincing a player to come to your school.

mack brown sucks at scouting QBs apparently

IMO QB is the hardest to evaluate. I think Bama has 6 on the roster. An signs 1 or 2 every class. 5 star QB don't pan out or bust more than 5 stars at other positions it seams. However I do not know this to be fact.

BUST. He's horrible. And he proves my point PERFECTLY.

Garrett Gilbert - former Gatorade National player of the year, top 3 national prospect. EVERYBODY recruited him, and he was in the same class as Andrew Luck.

It was a no brainer to take him.....had Mack NOT signed him, that's all we would have heard about from people like YOU eager to find fault.

Gilbert was a complete and utter failure at Texas......and has been one for most of his career at SMU. He'll never be remembered for doing anything other than absolutely sucking ass. But his recruitment is the reason Texas didn't land Luck.

So you have to pick your criticism here very carefully......because EVERYONE can't be wrong.

And you're still wrong. It's not a recurring theme.....and virtually none of the transfers had any success elsewhere.

Like I said, be very careful of the argument you are trying to make. Because right now facts don't back up anything you're saying.

Was he really that forgettable? Another one that proves my point here. I'll let you figure it out. Here's a clue - he left early and didn't get drafted

Obviously somethings wrong with your brain.

Tell us, for most of the last decade, WHO were the Texas QBs? What, I guess they missed out on VY and Colt, right?

Let's try this. NAME the QBs they missed out on, and try actually researching WHY those players did not come to Texas.

Once you are INFORMED, then you should try expressing your opinion. Because right now, you're posting in COMPLETE ignorance.

only UT/UF connection i remember is brantley decommiting, not transferring, and he was from Ocala not texas. And anyone with any football sense knew a kid who played in a small catholic high school league was a stretch at best at UF. he was what we call a legacy.

My bad......I'm thinking of two different guys. Confusing Brantley with Jevan Snead......he transferred to Ole Miss

Not at all. But unlike you, I know WHY they didn't come to Texas. You clearly do not. Be VERY CAREFUL of what argument you are making here.....because your ignorance will expose you.

I'm the captain of the FIRE MACK squad here.....but this is not a valid criticism of him.
