The Yankees certainly can't make the playoffs if they keep giving Phil Hughes the ball every 5th day. They need to give Nuno or Pineda a shot.

And similarly, why do they keep sending Claiborne down, but have Joba Chamberlain wasting a roster spot?

I think (and I'm not interested in checking in on either these two to verify) it has something to do with neither of them having any options left.

Good night for us. We won and gained a game on Baltimore, Cleveland, and Tampa. We really need to go for the sweep. Phil Hughes is not pitching in this series which means a sweep is possible.

Still on that .667 pace since this thread started. Need to go 18-9 the rest of the way to finish 90-72 and have a good chance at the second WC.

3.5 back with on September 1st....I'll take it.

If we can win tmr, win 2 of 3 at least against the White Sox and go 5-3 in our two 4 game series against the O's and Sox we would be in fantastic shape....That would put us at 80-67 so basically just needing to go 10-5 in our final 15 to get to 90 wins.

We missed out on a huge chance to cut the lead to 2.5 today. That 7th inning today may be the difference in us making or missing the playoffs.

Hopefully we're able to gain a game or 2 on them before we play the sox later on this week.
