I absolutely hate the way he carries himself. No confidence whatsoever.

To be fair he did lead us to a comeback against the Saints last year, but he's still worrisome IMO. I don't know, maybe bc I'm spoiled with Montana and Young being here prior but Smith just lacks that consistent composure you look for in someone playing that position. He's a game manager at best. He won't lose you a game, but more often than not he won't win you one either.

Well challenging a play causes a timeout - so if he was going to challenge the play then he should not have called the timeout. Did that answer correctly?

Well said Bems.

Congrats to any Vikes fans here. Minnesota earned the victory.

Ponder looked like he's will continue to progress reasonably well into a solid QB, and the defense (Allen) gave Alex fits all day.

Could the Vikes be a sleeper out of the NFC North this season?

I'd make that complaint against the entire offense at the end of the game here. What are they doing on the bench sulking? Get up on the sidelines and cheer on the defense.

But Smith in particular, he's the fucking QB he should be pumping everyone up to go drive for a TD when they get the ball back.

My question still stands, I didn't watch the game until now but I was watching stats. How the hell did Ponder look like Montana against us when Rodgers and Stafford both struggled? I don't it has anything to do with Alex Smith.

It was strange, thats the only way to explain it. We had pressure on him, we had coverage most of the time, Ponder just made the plays. He looked like a hall of famer.

Wait you talking about the first fumble? Or the second fumble (or was it the 3rd?) I'm talkin bout the one where he obviously fumbled and just as obviously recovered it - I think they'd have called a TO at the end of that play anyway...

Heh.....one would almost get the sense you've been dying for him to have a bad game.

Is there any chance these teams just switched jerseys before the game? Some kind of Singletary gravitational field of suck? What a disappointment.

yea the shot with them sitting on the side line chewing their mouth piece and whimpering was pathetic.

Ponder looked like a very a lucky QB all game long. The 2 TD passes get picked off more times than they go for Touchdowns. He also had at least 2 passes that the 49ers just dropped. He has a pretty stat sheet but it was a very lucky performance. It's like the old saying though "Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good." Ponder had a lot of luck and a lot of things that went his way today.

Good win for the Vikings. They took it to the 49ers today. Blocking FGs, turning busted passing plays into 25 yard TD runs by the QB... and how many 3rd and longs did they convert?? 5 or 6? They earned this win.

Smith left a lot of points on the board by overthrowing WRs at the worst possible times, and Whitner giving Ponder his pick-6 back by dropping the ball... etc. But hey, the Vikings played really good, no bullshit, they earned the win.

Can we throw the ball downfield? Ever?

We started the game pass pass pass, but they were all little ones. How many plus 20 yarders have we even attempted? Putting no pressure on the D.

Pretty sucky game. Neither side, offense or defense, could do the job they needed. No big play making at all.

yup, the vikings having a 7 min drive the start the game set the whole tone. we were still celebrating two big wins. hopefully this is a wake up call ala eagles 1994.

Lol, I want to win. I could care less if Alex has a good or bad game as long as we win.

Do I have to like his demeanor as a QB? Because I don't. Get the fuck over it.

Stop with this game manager crap. Alex has led comebacks that no "game manager" could have done.

Alex threw a GREAT pass to VD for a first down to continue a drive that would have resulted in points, and what happened? VD dropped a pass you're supposed to have known since pee-wee.

Everybody on the team failed this game (except the D in the 4th, stripping Gerhart like he was flossing cash in the wrong nighborhood). Heck, Harbaugh fucked up as much, if not more, than the players.

So if I'm gonna start hearing this "Ohhhh Alex Smith can't do it" crap, I'm gonna lose it

(except I think people like Yoshi are military, or y'all are still-in-shape old fb players, so I'd probably die before I hit the floor, cause I'm drunk, but I aint no master)
