Real defensive struggle in LA.

Lakers up 87-74 at halftime.

Defense clearly optional in that first half. Lakers have an excuse (all of their non-AD defenders are injured and AD was in early foul trouble), although they often opt for the ole! defense anyway. Seems odd that the Pelicans were being lauded for their defense in the lad in to this game.

Hell, the Lakers could've played defense considerably better just by at least trying to force Zion to his right. The brainfart defense on display was downright embarrassing at times.

Yea, a lot of the talk around a summer signing for the Lakers is including three number ones.

I don't care who it is, have not the Lakers learned anything that the grass is def not greener anywhere and nobody is worth three frikin number ones??!!

All of the young players they had or future players they were going to have through yielded draft picks they gave up to get somebody has become almost a monument to imagining a player to be the "answer" to quenching that perennial inch to get another ring!

I think AD has proven to be worth the picks. Lakers have always been willing to trade away their picks, even selling off late 1sts during the draft.

I was going to push on the opposite, that having two of those 3 picks as 2029 and 2031 at the very end of the tradeable range won't really move the needle for sellers trying to make a rebuild with any kind of urgency. Buying into the idea of the Lakers bottoming out hasn't been consistently proven out over the years, really just the post-Kobe years (and the Lakers didn't trade those picks).
