Right, I’m referring to a wild card tie, let’s say the Astros win the division and we have a wild card record tie for the last spot if that was to happen would it be similar to the 1 game playoff wile had with the Angels back in 95 ? Just curious if they’ve changed that with all the expanded playoffs…

no more 1-game tiebreakers. if there's a wildcard tie then the team with the superior intradivision record takes it.

What would Morosi do if he was in the Mariners’ position?

So the way to continue this “window” is trade top prospects for guys who have 1 year left and have zero chance of resigning? If the M’s needed 1 bat from being as good as the Dodgers and Braves then ok but signing a FA is a lot smarter than a 1 year rental.

It is the dumb tie breaker rule. The Mariners need to be in the 2nd WC or 3rd WC with the same record as the Blue Jays. They have the tie break over the Blue Jays but the Rangers will end up with the tie breaker over the M’s unless the M’s go 6-1 against them (but they will be in the 2nd WC spot if they do that). So basically they will on the outside if they and the Rangers tie.
