Completely unrealistic and I hate the notion of giving up on the chance of an elite player just to have a bunch of low probability lottery tickets.
I feel like you can still find quality day one starters in the second round and to a lesser extent in the third round.

Quality players - yes. Elite talent is much less likely. A top 5 pick is significantly more likely to succeed than even a second rounder. Hell, even just claiming players are quality and you're still likely only gonna get a 40% chance to get someone there. Make them a perennial all pro like Wagner - that's a once in 2 decades kind've pick.

I don't think the Panthers will select Anthony Richardson #1, but if they did, they'd be idiotic to start him year one. Even the pundits who are highest on Richardson say he shouldn't be playing year one.

It goes back to me being devil's advocate as you mentioned, but as I've mentioned I personally think Anthony Richardson will be a bust, but I can see how a team would be enamored with his potential.

My personal opinion is that I could definitely see Richardson falling relative to where he's being mocked at. The gap between his floor and ceiling is just too large. His ceiling is Josh Allen's arm and a faster version of Cam Newton. His floor is not even being a serviceable backup QB in the NFL.

That's the reason he won't go #1. You can't mortgage your future for a player who isn't even ready to play yet.

Justin Britt was an odd pull but ok.

I'm not suggesting that you can't find quality players in the 2nd round. But the odds are a lot worse.
Hasn't Britt had a solid career? Honestly not sure because it's tough to gauge success for olinemen

After watching more highlights of Drew Sanders, I really like the idea of drafting him at 1:20

Haven't heard his name mentioned much, but another ILB? Yes please. It is probably the biggest hole on the team ATM outside of DL.

Here are some interesting tidbits from Peter King..

I will not be surprised if, in the Edge category, Tyree Wilson is picked ahead of Will Anderson. I particularly will not be surprised if Houston—whether at two or through a trade-down if the Texans don’t take a quarterback—takes Wilson over Anderson. “DeMeco Ryans could look at Wilson after his year in San Francisco and say, ‘I got my Nick Bosa,’” said someone in the league who knows Ryans.

Not sure how much I buy this but I do have concerns with Anderson.
An increasing number of people around the league think Jalen Carter has done enough in his visits to not sink like a stone on draft night. (More on Carter in my next section.) It’s become almost a cliché, how many team officials think the Seahawks will take Carter with the fifth overall pick.

I've consistently said that if Carter did well at his meeting in Seattle, he was going to be our pick. He just makes too much sense for this team. Arguably the most talented player in the draft that plays a position of need. The street racing never bothered me.

He was solidly a starting quality center for a few years.

For a couple of season. Struggled badly at guard. And then at center initially. Eventually he got the handle of it and then got injured. Not a bust certainly. But not exactly a win of a pick either.

been saying this for years. draft after draft of dropping down to late in the 1st is a great way to avoid drafting any elite players and it really hurt the team.

I really hope that we come away from this draft with either Anderson or Carter. Everything I've read and seen suggest that they are the most talented players in this draft. Both have risks but they are worth taking to have a chance at an elite player and their floors are still pretty high.

Well,

Despite me still grading a Carter selection favorable (I'd grade it B to A- or so as it stands), Anderson does not have the risks that Carter does (and why that pick would deserve an A+). Anderson could be Curry 2.0 but there's nothing to indicate that he'll just quit or give up which Carter has 100% put himself in the category of.

You're correct, Anderson/Carter are the most talented players in the draft. One appears to want to try and be a Von Miller clone, the other appears to not want to try and wants a payday from all reports we've heard.

There is ZERO evidence of Carter giving up on the field. There wasn't talk about him giving up or quitting until after the season was over.

Carter was a lynchpin of the best defense in football for the past 2 seasons.

Anderson's risks are that his small and there is a real chance that he will struggle against the much bigger players in the NFL.

Carter has off field risks. Anderson has on field risks.

Have you been listening to Mike Salk talk about the draft lately? It's bizarre... he thinks we should trade up to #1 and take Bryce Young if he's there, and if not then the player that would make him the most excited (in a positive way) at 1.5 is Richardson. Now he's also stated he wants them to take Carter so I guess he's all over the map, but I'll lose my mind if we turn our 2 first round picks into 1 player who doesn't improve the weakest part of the team.

If we trade up to #1 and take Bryce Young or select Richardson at #5, I'm quitting as a Seahawks fan and following the Kraken exclusively.
